The Death of Sarah Burke

White people, more than other racial groups, seem to enjoy taking big physical risks. I was reminded of this upon hearing of the death of White Canadian female halfpipe skier, Sarah Burke.

She was White, beautiful, 29 years old. Great physical shape, obviously. No children born. But she was willing to fling her body into impossible skyward contortions, risking serious injury and death. I’m only just noting the weirdness of it. We Whites will jump out of planes and off buildings, tackle each other, fly planes upside down, you name it. (See “Extreme Sports as a Context of Implicit Whiteness.”)

But assert our own interests as a people in the political arena? The courage shrivels. We get red-faced and flustered. Ashamed. It does fit with all the evolutionary theories—we evolved as physically bold but socially cautious—concerned about the opinions of others, especially in a context framed as having moral implications—because both traits were adaptive. Still, incongruous.

This is correct, if you are NOT socially cautious, you will pay a high price. It can even be dangerous around the wrong people, and criminals. So yea, it does pay, you can get hurt if your not, and you step on the wrong toes.

Firstly, I’m sorry to lose Sarah.

On Wiggy’s comment, I wonder if we’re not projecting our own fear onto our alleged persecutors. But that’s speaking from the UK.

Did anybody catch this passage from the USA today article,
“Aware of the big role the Olympics played in pushing the Whites of the world from the fringes into the mainstream, Burke lobbied to add superpipe skiing to the Winter Games program, noting that no new infrastructure would be needed.”

    @James:

If I were young I would have a snowboard—more likely two or three of ‘em.

I noticed that the young lady was 29 years old when she died. At around 30 I switched from downhill, to xc which is slower, but, can still be pretty fast for a good skier.

If Sarah Burke had lived another year or so, she might have limited her snowboarding, and scaled back on the gymnastic moves on a halfpipe.

Everytime I see a kid with a snowboard, or a skateboard I’m ready to roll. LOL.

Two days ago I posted four links containing photos, articles, and videos of Sarah Burke here:

    http://majorityrights.com/weblog/comments//the_facial_proportions_of_beautiful_people#c121601

I wrote: There are many very beautiful photos of Sarah Burke on the Internet; several times, every day since the accident, I search the Internet, hoping, hoping, for some bit of good news, but there is none.
    ______________________________________________________________

Today, I saw an article about Scott Finlay, who survived a similar accident 30 years ago, but remained paralyzed.

    http://www.thestar.com/sports/olympics/article/1118989–sarah-burke-s-tragic-death-hits-family-of-another-injured-skier-particularly-hard

Sarah’s parents will probably never again look as happy as Scott’s do in that photo. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a person as all-around beautiful, happy and fulfilled as Sarah Burke was.

Risk-taking: definitely more than one side to the issue.

The $200,000 reported to be the cost of her last medical bill was raised virtually overnight. I wonder how long it would take TOO to raise that sum?

I don’t watch extreme sports, and I don’t like the idea of women being in them. I’m opposed to the masculinization of women and the feminization of men.

I do not mean any offense to Sarah Burke or her family or her fans. But I think it’s important for us to share our honest thoughts on these kinds of things. (And my thoughts change sometimes.)

She is far from ugly, but for some reason I’m not drawn to her photograph; it does not inspire me at all, especially when I think about her sport and lifestyle. People have different tastes, though. And I understand that there is much more to a person than the exterior or what they do for a living.

I hope my comment is not seen as mean or insensitive. I doubt any of her family members visit this site. And since it’s unlikely there will be a follow-up article about this particular person, I felt that now is the one chance I have to share my thoughts on her and her lifestyle.

It’d be nice for Whites to reclaim sports like baseball, but it’s impossible to watch a game without being reminded of the multicultural agenda (and steroids and general lack of wholesomeness.)

@Sandy: Why on earth should any of us pay even one red penny toward her medical bill? It’s not like she died in a car or plane accident. I think it’s a good lesson why a beautiful young woman who could have benefited a nice young White man with quality offspring shouldn’t have so readily gotten involved in extreme sports and risk an end to her life like this.

Maybe the prospect of huge medical bills like this will make White parents be more inclined to steer their children away from pursuits such as this. Why on earth should anyone else pay her medical bill and thus subsidize more of this behavior?

Good article. I’ve seen unarmed white men take knives and occasionally guns off black men on many dozens of occasions but if the same black men called them racist they’d collapse in a puddle instantly. It is very weird.

There is money to be made from these types of extreme sports — that means the “contestants” constantly have to up their game by performing ever more dangerous tricks and turns. There is always someone younger on your tail willing to push the risk ceiling ever higher.

I was shocked when I read that Sara Burke was 29 years old. She was far past her prime for these types of demanding, grueling sports just as elite gymnasts are past their prim by around 19-20 years of age.

The downside of these sports is that they are inherently risky, especially as one ages and his body becomes less forgiving.

Yes, she should have stopped at least five years ago, settled down and had at least five or more White babies. What a waste of beautiful White DNA.

Thanks for sharing this. The fear of social shame is so powerful. It’s not just with racial issues, either.

Many people are afraid of being labeled “homophobe” for speaking the truth about homosexuality. Others are fearful of being labeled “sexist” or “misogynist” because they don’t buy into the PC nonsense that men and women are interchangeable.

There is a good article on Faith and Heritage that deals with the subject: False Sins (http://faithandheritage.com/2011/09/false-sins/)

The article is written from a Christian perspective; here is an excerpt.

There is a slew of new vocabulary that has arisen in discussions concerning Western ethics. Whereas terms like “fornication,” “miscegenation,” “bastard,” and “infidel” have all but disappeared, a new list of sins has appeared, the most prevalent of which are racism, sexism, homophobia, anti-Semitism, xenophobia, and Islamophobia. Much ink could be and has been spilled in showing the vacuousness of these terms, which are often utilized in ways that reduce to self-contradiction, irrationality, and name-calling.

I’m not affiliated with that website, but I love it. Like TOO, it is a bastion of sanity. I think that’s the first time I’ve written the word “bastion”.

@Richard: Richard, I like the things you write, but I have mixed feelings about extreme sports. Certainly they are dangerous, but at the same time they take much more ingeniousness than other popular sports. Another thing to like is that white men lead the way with innovation and creativity combined with skill and hard work, which we outpace those who hate us by miles.
I too wish baseball wasn’t tainted by giving fat black steroid popping sluggers 20 million a year and a PR campaign to hype them into Gods, but all I can do is root for the many white players who also excel, on the rare occasion I watch it. Plus, when a white guy starts extolling black basketball players, talking about baseball stops me from strangling them for treason.

    @Vlad Writes:

I appreciate the kind words in the opening of your comment. Thanks. I remember liking some of your comments under other articles.

I’m glad you and others find value in extreme sports and Whites people’s role in them.

About a year ago, before I stopped watching t.v., I tried getting into watching hockey. It’s still almost exclusively White, and naturally I support that. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to enjoy it; maybe I was having a bad day — I don’t really remember. Maybe I’ll try it again in the future, someday.

My point is, I love the fact that hockey is mostly White. I don’t even watch hockey but I still have a great feeling about it — for the simple reason that it’s a White sport.

    Take care, Vlad.
