The Return of Odysseus

This is a well-written and highly readable play, and I got through it in a couple of normal working days. It tells the famous Homeric tale of the prolonged absence and final return of the eponymous Greek hero to his home island, and the resulting revenge he exacts on the unruly suitors of his wife, Penelope.
Author Michael Walker is well known in nationalist circles as the editor of Scorpion magazine, a publication which first began the not particularly easy task of introducing the ideas of the European New Right to an English-speaking audience back in the 1990s.
For this reason it a may be difficult to read this play as it should be read, namely as a purely “metapolitical” work, that is one in which the message is an indistinguishable part of the art. Instead, like me, you may feel a tendency to read it politically, and to interpret certain lines as referring to specific contemporary nationalist issues.
But while political consciousness and an awareness of the writer’s sympathies may detract from a perfect metapolitical reading, I have to say I rather enjoyed these “political flashes,” and many here will also enjoy them, I am sure.
For example, in Act Two, Scene Two, Mentor, a member of the Assembly of Ithaca, describes the sorry state that the island kingdom has fallen into since the monarch’s absence:
There is not one palace which is plundered, but the entire land. Ithaca is growing sick while the tapeworms of the market grow fat on a land for which they never fought, which they never tend and never loved. The homeland has almost as many immigrants as natives. No one respects the Ithacan customs. The children are hardened and use the lowest language of the streets. The public coffers are plundered by parasites and aliens. Money is made by distortion and usury. Honest work is badly paid. The richest men are middlemen and speculators. The labourer is poor. (p. 128)
Reading these words, it is not ancient Ithaca that rises before your mental eye, but modern Britain, or some other “enriched” part of the West. One is almost surprised not to find a reference to Muslim grooming gangs! But, then, a piece of rhetorical eloquence or a classical reference snaps you back to the ancient story world in which this is set, and, from a thinly disguised satire on our diseased modern times, the story assumes once again the elegance of timeless tragedy.
This alternation between the sublimity of heroic tragedy and the incisiveness of a satire on modern times weaves its way through the entire play. Besides Odysseus himself, who mainly stays on the heroic and classical side of things, the important characters are Telemachus, Odysseus’s son, and Antinous, the leader of the suitors. These two exist much more as modern types.
Telemachus has much of the “cuckservative” about him, being weak and morally imposed upon by the arrogant sophistry and chutzpah of the incomers and their supporters, of whom Antinous represents the type.
Many of Antinous’s lines would be at home in the mouth of the contemporary SJW you might encounter on social media, someone who dresses up his arguments with a distortion of the “founding principles,” while resorting to stigmatizing labels to stifle the concerns and arguments of his opponents.
“Thank the Gods that this indeed is a free country,” he says at one point to Halisthernes, a remnant of the old ruling class. “The overwhelming majority of free men find you, Halisthernes, and your little group of bigoted friends, repugnant and absurd. Repugnant because offensive to decent persons, absurd because [Odysseus] is not coming home, never. I say there will be no return. The old times are finished forever! There can be no second coming of the king.” (p.132)
You could almost throw a line in there about it being “the current year” — even if the current year, in this case, would be sometime in the twelfth century BC!
This synergy between current events and eternal issues also makes you wonder about the stylistic models of Walker’s play. Did the ancient Athenian playwrights, like Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides, write lines that referenced their own city’s contemporary issues? No doubt they did, but in a suitably metapolitical way that now reads like poetry.
Walker has clearly been reading these writers, and his lines have a similar feel, sharing the short punchy sentences, pulsing rhythms, and repetition of ideas, clearly expressed, needed to drive the message home to a large and unruly audience. For this reason, there are clear affinities between drama and political speaking, and it seems that the rise of Greek drama certainly provided a spur to the rise and development of schools of rhetoric aimed at swaying the democratic mob in places like Athens.
But ultimately this play is about the sophistry and deceptiveness of words, and how they facilitate injustices and corruption that can only be corrected by radical action.
The central motif implicit in the story is that of presumption — first in presuming Odysseus’s death, and secondly in the presumption of the weak and unworthy on the prerogatives of those whom they arrogantly and unjustly seek to replace.
Walker skilfully shows us how this presumption is dressed up in plausible sounding words, and how injustice prolonged in this way leads to dramatic violence in the same way that the longer a bow is drawn back the greater the force is that it finally unleashes.
It is these themes of presumption and punishment, eternal in their relevance, that also resonate strongly with our own times, with events like Cologne, where arrogant and ungrateful newcomers have treated European women in a worse way than the suitors of Penelope were hoping to treat her.
The presumption of the suitors is brought to a hubristic pitch by Walker in the last scene. Here they are hoping to finally break down Penelope’s resistance, only to be met with her enraged husband in a scene of violent “uncucking.” The arrogant Antinous’s fatal and ironic final words on being warned of danger are:
“I shall be careful. I’m supposed to be marrying soon. This is my stag night.” (p.193)
After which he is immediately shot by Odysseus with a bow and arrow, just like the animal he unwittingly claimed to be.
In the cultural and political battle to preserve White European civilization, we will ultimately be forced to dig very deep into our collective myths and history for the strength and wisdom to survive. It is good to see that in Michael Walker’s play, this process has already begun.

Hillary Rodham is not a mechanic; she merely manages a garage her philandering husband abandoned. Jeb Bush is not a mechanic; he merely inherited a garage. Granted, Trump is also not a mechanic, but he knows where to find the best ones to work in his garage. He won’t hire his brother-in-law or someone to whom he owes a favor; he will hire someone who lives and breathes cars.

A Warning To The GOP
So Mr. McConnell, you supported your party when they demanded a “loyalty oath” from Trump, but that doesn’t extend to the party? It’s one-sided?
Like hell it was — and is.
Let me point a few things out to you Mitch, and more than a few others — like Limbaugh, Levin, McMorris-Rodgers, Fox News, the Koch clan, Ryan and the rest of you.
You all exist politically and on a business level because we the people put up with you, and for no other reason.
That’s not a threat, it’s a fact. Nobody is or remains in business because they have a right to, they do so because people buy their product or service, either directly or indirectly. In the case of media it’s (mostly) indirect through advertisers. Nobody is or remains in a political office because they have a right to, they do so because people vote to allow them to.
Further, nobody has a right to live other than a solitary, singular life. Everything beyond that is voluntary. That’s right Mitch, Rush, McMorris-Rodgers and the rest: Nobody has to associate with you in any way. You’re not a protected class and can’t sue if you find a middle finger in your face instead of a friendly cashier, bartender, car repairman or similar. You do remember, Ms. McMorris-Rodgers, the very blunt and clear middle finger I erected at you on the phone a few years back, right?
How happy will you be when, not if, you can’t walk down the street, or for that matter anywhere out of the halls of Congress, without essentially everyone giving you the bird?
Yes, I get it, you folks, collectively in particular, have a lot of money, So what? Money will buy a lot of things but that just makes you the solicitor of a *****, and we’re all entitled to call both the ***** and you on that — daily, shunning both you and the *****, along with everyone you both associate with.
Maybe some of your “benefactors” have been waking up in a cold sweat over the very-real possibility that if you try to run this sort of crap game you could find yourself very lonely, very fast, or worse — all the dirty business you got swept under the rug with the complicity of the government might pop back out.

You guys pretend to present the idea that this is “abnormal” but you know you’re lying; there are plenty who would definitely whiz (or worse) in a Koch brother’s beer before it was served given the chance, and in your case it’s probably close to half the population of the country.

Such shamelessly biased promotion of left-wing idealogy is, sadly, what most “social justice” books and lesson plans teach.
Parents, read your children’s textbooks. Tell your school that you want to start a parents’ review committee to study school texts before they are adopted.
If we sit idly by, the “teachers for social justice” who wish to indoctrinate our children into an overtly socialist/communist idealogy will absolutely get their way.

Trump and the Rise of the Unprotected
Why political professionals are struggling to make sense of the world they created.

There are the protected and the unprotected. The protected make public policy. The unprotected live in it. The unprotected are starting to push back, powerfully.
The protected are the accomplished, the secure, the successful—those who have power or access to it. They are protected from much of the roughness of the world. More to the point, they are protected from the world they have created. Again, they make public policy and have for some time.
I want to call them the elite to load the rhetorical dice, but let’s stick with the protected.
They are figures in government, politics and media. They live in nice neighborhoods, safe ones. Their families function, their kids go to good schools, they’ve got some money. All of these things tend to isolate them, or provide buffers. Some of them—in Washington it is important officials in the executive branch or on the Hill; in Brussels, significant figures in the European Union—literally have their own security details.
Because they are protected they feel they can do pretty much anything, impose any reality. They’re insulated from many of the effects of their own decisions.
One issue obviously roiling the U.S. and western Europe is immigration. It is THE issue of the moment, a real and concrete one but also a symbolic one: It stands for all the distance between governments and their citizens.
It is of course the issue that made Donald Trump.

The FBI is promoting the left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center, even though the group’s leaders have written for the Communist Party, honored a convicted cop-killer, and praised a radical anti-American terrorist who planted bombs at the Pentagon, the U.S. Capitol, and police stations.
The FBI’s official web site displays a page on “hate crimes” that provides a direct Internet link to the SPLC’s own web site.
That’s where anti-American terror bomber Bill Ayers, leader of the ’60s-era militant Weather Underground terrorist organization that planted bombs targeting police stations, is praised as “fighting for social justice” and described as a “highly respected figure” who has “developed a rich vision.”
Ayers told the New York Times in 2011, “I don’t regret setting bombs. I feel we didn’t do enough.” Ayers is described by SPLC as a Vietnam War-era “anti-war activist,” even though Ayers, far from opposing the war, actively worked for Communist North Vietnam’s victory over the U.S. His political manifesto, “Prairie Fire” is dedicated to Sirhan Sirhan, the convicted assassin of Robert F. Kennedy. He said he considers himself a “small c” communist.
SPLC “senior fellow” Mark Potok, director of the group’s “intelligence project,” has written for the Communist Party’s official online publication, the People’s World.
SPLC’s friendliness with Ayers is not the organization’s only association with cop-haters. SPLC board member James Rucker apparently has a soft spot for cop-killers. Rucker is founder and chairman of ColorofChange.org, which vows to honor the memory of convicted cop-killer Troy Davis who was executed by the state of Georgia for the murder of police officer Mark MacPhail in Savannah. In an email to members signed by Rucker, ColorofChange said it was “saddened to have to report that the Georgia Board of Pardons and Parole refused to grant clemency for Troy Davis…” Rucker’s ColorofChange said on its homepage, “Rest in peace, Troy. We honor your memory by continuing the work.”

Writing plays may not seem all that important, but when we think of the sheer range of liberal/left assaults on our people in these kinds of ways, it is interesting to see somebody writing things in the arts that is not entirely from a liberal/left perspective.

One of my favourite AMREN videos is by Michael Walker. It is quite an old one now, but at the time, I found it both entertaining and insightful. I recommend people find it, particularly any British nationalists.

It is a shame Michael seems to have virtually vanished, but I can understand the relatively low profile and seeming reclusive distance from the general cause. I haven’t seen much of Alex Kurtagic in recent years either, but maybe I am just not looking.

Statement by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on NATO support to assist with the refugee and migrant crisis, 24 February 2016. This statement followed a meeting of the North Atlantic Council.
I have for months, on various forums and websites frequented by EU and NATO elites, been ceaselessly advocating for the involvement of NATO in reducing/stopping the invader inflows into Europe. Two weeks ago this option was first introduced and suggested by several German and other European policy makers, and it looks as if these measures to reduce/stop the flows are being implemented quickly now.
Time will tell how effective this strategy will be, but this could be a major game changer.
This should all have happened months or years ago obviously, but better late than never.

That’s a pretty significant haul for PEG, in and of itself. Then consider that PEG listed 183 districts across the nation as clients on its website last year. If they all pay similar amounts to the districts in our survey, PEG may be a very profitable enterprise, indeed.
Yet PEG has used speakers at its national conferences who condemn the ideals of private property and profit, and dismiss the notion that minority students (like Singleton once was) can work hard and succeed on their own.
One keynote speaker at the PEG’s Summit for Courageous Conversations back in 2009 was Antonia Darder, a professor who has worked at several American universities.
