For decades, “The 92nd St. Y”—as in Young Men’s Hebrew Association—has been a bastion of progressive thought in Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The community center describes itself as “a proudly Jewish institution that reaches out to people of every race, ethnicity, religion, age and economic class.”
Last fall, the Y featured a revealing discussion on “the Left, the Right, and Judaism” between the conservative moralist Dennis Prager and superlawyer, liberal activist, and Harvard professor Alan Dershowitz. David Frum joined them as moderator. It was a discussion between Jews, for Jews, and about Jewish interests, which is something Jews do quite a bit of. Highlights can be viewed here and here.
The turgid opinions on Zionism expressed by Prager and Dershowitz aren’t particularly unusual, and so we shouldn’t get caught up in, for instance, Prager’s claim, “There is something wrong with your moral barometer if you’re anti-Israel.”
The discussion ultimately amounted to a friendly debate over whether conservatives or liberals were Best For The Jews (that is, most supportive of Zionism and least prone to “anti-Semitism). What I found most striking was that each man stressed just how happy he was that there were so many Jews in the opposing camp—and how he only hoped there might be more some day.
This is a funny thing to argue. I’m not sure I could utter something like, “Ted Kennedy destroyed the American nation with the ’65 Immigration Act—long live his family!” Or “I disagree with most everything Keith Olbermann says on his show—I only wish there were more like him!”
I don’t have much affection for Kennedy and Olbermann, and a host of other non-Jews on the Left. I want to discredit them, defeat them. I generally wish they weren’t around, and I look forward to the day when their arguments will be invalid and ignored.
This sense of finality seems quite natural. And since Prager cites moral justifications for his political opinions (as opposed to, say, utilitarian or economic ones), it’s rather shocking that he’s so eager to tolerate the Alan Dershowitzs of the world—indeed, to express his hope that they go forth and multiply.
What becomes clear in discussions like this one is that Jews view Left and Right as static—as two components of a system they operate in. I don’t think Prager and Dershowitz are insincere in their beliefs and opinions. It’s simply a matter of issues like, say, abortion and social welfare policy being completely subordinated to the REAL issue (and you know what that is.) For this reason, they’re delighted to see more of their kind in prominent positions “on the other side.”
This metapolitics has obviously been successful for them. Note how in the second video, Prager says that the Jews ridiculed and attacked George W. Bush—but did so in full confidence that he would never stop standing up for Zionists and risking his political career on their behalf.
Europeans and European-Americans could do worse than learn something from a people whose political ideas are profoundly informed by racial consciousness.
Facing the Future as a Minority
I urge everyone to read Alan Dershowitz’s book Chutzpah. It was an eye opener to me. His book drips with hostility to Christians, an absurd sense of everything we do is wrong everything they do is right, and above all a total lack of gratitude for all America has made possible for him. The fact the a such a blatantly bigoted man remains in good stead at Harvard is all we need to know about our ruling class.

Where was Helen Thomas on this stuff last year? Or during all the years she enjoyed her seniority in the press room surrounded by an ever increasing number of Jews and Zionist friendly press secretaries, reporters, wire service execs, etc. Courage is better late than never, but surely she noticed what was going on around her and might have mentioned this before we slaughtered a million Iraqis and looted and laid Baghdad

The secret of Thomas’s longevity in the press corp is exactly that everyone assumed she was a fellow Jew – what with her stereotypically Semitic looks. As soon as it was known she wasn’t (and that she was somewhat hostile) she was gone.
Jewish Zionism is unquestionably the moral equivalent of Islamism in terms of group think and unitary behavior, only it leans more towards the fascist whereas Islamism is a more communist-like strain of totalitarianism.
It’s ironic that organized Jewry was tenaciously anti-nationalist and anti-fascist with communist inclinations prior to World War II (or posed as such), and yet when it finally suited its purposes has essentially turned on a dime, taken off its mask, and declared its own Jewish nationalist version of fascism suddenly kosher, and additionally that “there is something wrong with your moral barometer if you’re anti-Israel,” i.e. anti-Judeofascist.
What’s so shocking and infuriating is how many gullible Gentiles politically follow Jewry around like lost puppies, and will turn on a dime themselves every time Jewry shifts direction, and start aping and validating Jewry’s behavior. No wonder Jewry regards the Goyim as animals — and no wonder Jewry despises authentic Christians, who won’t just acquiesce every time the psychotic pharisees issue a new order or demand.
The “Christian” Zionists, of course, are another story. They’re as gullible and whipped as even the dumbest and weakest of liberals. It helps, I guess, to have guys like Prager working the Right, guys like Dershowitz working the Left, and the Zionist mainstream media validating everything they say. But Jeez, one would think more Americans would have at least a LITTLE bit of backbone.
All of it really makes me wonder how this country ever became a superpower. I guess for a lot American Christians (so called), it only takes a couple of generations for authentic, Jewish-antithesis Christianity to be totally lobotomized. But look at them now, following Jewish Zionists around like zombies. How sad. How pathetic. How weak.

It would be interesting to see if there are Jews that other Jews WILL distance themselves from and view as enemies. This ethnocentric tribalism can be a great strength but I can also see it being an Achilles heel. When you have to stand up and protect every last sad member of your group, it’s bound to impose costs.

My brother and I are living examples of Jewish free speech or should I say CENSORSHIP of the media. Dershowitz has tried to let the memory, or at least the recent memory, of his slimy law cases (O.J. Simpson, Claus Von Bulow, pornographer Harry Reems, etc.) fade before he took on full fledged advocacy of israel. Most of his fanatical pro-israeli books have been written in the last 10 years. Now, when he champions Israel, he thinks he comes across as the Harvard law professor, not the guy who lets murderers go free.
side note but they are also the people who pressure the real “Y” – YMCA – to be completely secular – and all other institutions we created – like Harvard, where Dershowitz sprouts his anti-Christian venom was founded as a puritian seminary.
But really what’s interesting is this isn’t much different from what one sees on national TV every night – “next up, wolf blitzer will have tom friedman and bill kristol on to discuss if we should bomb iran now or later.’
Such a myopic, people, i don’t think they have any clue their behavior is causing deep resentment and they see any non-jewish reaction, no matter how rational and reasoned, as anti-semitism, which causes them to further dig in.
