The meaning of the modern Olympic Games (1896 onwards) is written in the Olympic Charter, which stipulates that “The Olympic Games are competitions between athletes in individual or team events and not between countries” (Chapter 1, Article 6). In this article I wish to point out several issues regarding the friction between nationalism and the modern Olympic Games.
First of all the ancient Olympic Games were an expression of Greek nationalism as they were pan-Hellenic. The Greek world was divided into city-states which were either independent or had some form of self-government. Only Greek freemen were allowed to participate and the Games were held in the honor of the Greek gods, because they were believed to reside on Mount Olympus. Both criteria automaticly ruled out any possibility of foreign participation whatsoever, even as a spectator. Attending the Games was giving hommage to the Greek gods. Another striking feature of the ancient Games is that only the winners were showered with fame and honor. There was no notion of a second or even third place. The Games were a showcase of Greek pride and prowess.
The modern Olympic Games were first revived by Greek nationalists during the 19th century following the independence of Greece in 1832. It had again a pan-Hellenic character as Greeks from all over the Mediterranean were encouraged to join in. In 1890 the Frenchman Pierre de Coubertin found the International Olympic Committee (IOC) which managed to get the Olympic Games held in Athens in 1896 as an international event in which 14 European nations (or nations of European descent) participated. The Greek nationalist rationale that somebody was not a citizen of a state, but a member of a nation was upheld: Greeks from the Ottoman Empire were listed as Greek. Some people opted for Athens as a permanent city for the Olympics but this was overruled by the IOC. Since then, the Olympics are held every four years in different cities around the globe.
The Berlin 1936 Olympics are widely criticized for glorifying National Socialism, but nothing is further from the truth. All nations and races were allowed to compete and the Berlin Olympics even added new aspects to the Olympics. The torch relay from Greece was introduced and the grandiose opening with a lightshow was to set a benchmark for the following decades. All of this was filmed by the innovative director Leni Riefenstahl under the name Olympia, which I personally regard as her masterpiece.
WWII cast a shadow over the Olympics, as the 1940 and 1944 editions were cancelled. After the war Japan and Germany were excluded in the 1948 London Games.
Nowadays, every association between the Olympic Games and National Socialism is considered beyond the pale. In the 2012 London Olympics the German Nadja Drygalla was pressured to leave the Olympics because she is allegedly a girlfriend of a member of the NPD. Voula Papachristou was expelled from the Greek Olympic team for Tweeting this innocuous statement: “With so many Africans in Greece … at least the mosquitoes of West Nile … will eat homemade food!”
Nowadays the Olympic Games are a far cry from the nationalist event it once was. During the Cold War the United States and the Soviet Union still competed for medals based on more or less national teams, but since 1989 the Olympics have turned into a charade. The most telling examples are the way Africans are being naturalised for running competitions and Chinese for ping pong competitions. Chinese who are not good enough for the Chinese national team are finding their way in other nation’s teams. Miao Miao used to play for Poland, but is now Australian. Liu Song represents Argentina, Lin Jun the Dominican Republic and Wu Jiaduo is coming out for Germany.
The irony is that China is one of the few countries left that would rather risk losing with their own people than to naturalize aliens to be able to win. They participate for the glory of their own nation, despite article 6 of the Olympic Charter. Moreover, they believe in their own strength and prowess, just like the Greek once did.
On the other hand, for the West, where ethnic diversity is prized above all else, the Olympic teams represent the proposition nation idea. So why not recruit whoever you can to get the best team? The U.S. team has 38 athletes who were not born in America. Some of them competed for their native countries before becoming American citizens, including Bernard Lagat who was born in Kenya and represented his native country in the 2000 and 2004 Olympics, and Khatuna Lorig, who competed for Georgia in 1996 and 2000. Their presence on the American team obviously prevents other Americans from competing. But it’s all about winning, right?
Despite all this, according to Steven Walt, Americans still get a charge out seeing Americans win (“What the Olympics can tell us about nationalism“).
Yet I find myself cheering for a bunch of strangers who for all I know might be mostly jerks. But even though I know all this, most of the time I can’t quite stop myself from being inwardly pleased when the Stars and Stripes is up on the podium, and I can’t help feeling a bit disappointed when some American individual or team flames out. …
This tendency isn’t absolute, of course (i.e., there may be some U.S. athletes I don’t care much for…). And in those cases, I won’t be sorry if they don’t emerge triumphant. But the general rule applies, because nationalism remains an incredibly powerful political force.
An obvious place to see nationalism in the Olympics is the ethnic/religious variety. The Jewish press has been gaga over Jewish Olympians, and an article titled “Jews, Sikhs, Hindus root for fellow believers in Olympics” is self-explanatory. Which makes me wonder whether White Americans are equally proud when a native-born White athlete wins as when Bernard Lagat or even Gabrielle Douglas wins. I rather doubt it.
Perhaps Walt may actually be thinking the same way. Walt’s example of someone he cheered for Ryan Lochte, a White swimmer whose photo adorns his followup blog.
Facing the Future as a Minority
The Olympics are one of the greatest mediums for illustrating the ridiculousness of multiculti globle-ism ; with a china-man on the US team and competing with China … etc etc.

The opening ceremony for London was pathetic compared to what the Chinese did. I remember one part where they cut away to an “English” children’s choir and half of them were black. They even had some rapper ooking and eeking up on a stage at one point.
The English are just a tacky people. They no longer have any sense of decorum or taste, let alone identity. One English official had the guts to attack the multicultural nature of the opening ceremony but of course he was shut down by the “we British are proud of our diverse nature” types.
But it does feel good when White athletes win gold medals, no matter what nation they’re from. Michael Phelps, anyone? Greatest Olympian ever? And to the best of my knowledge Israel hasn’t won a single medal yet.

I can’t remember a time when I didn’t want White athletes to win their events, regardless of country, when competing against non-whites, whether it was in the Olympics overseas or here in the USA.

[1] I think the original ‘games’ were more serious and warlike than the word ‘games’ implies now. Throwing the discus and javelin, and wrestling were military skills in a pre-industrial age.
[2] Apologies for the godawful bias in the opening ceremony. It’s pure anti-white racism, plus of course the obligatory lies about the past.
[3] Some people have noted there’s a bias even in the presentation of the various events – ones with many blacks being selectively promoted.
[4] The construction costs of the site were of course fantastic (and used immigrant cheap labour, all the costs of which, such as illegal immigration and ‘asylum’ are offset onto taxpayers). At the height of the busing controversy in Boston I watched an Olympic boxing match between a Russian and a black American at a friend’s house. There were a lot of boys from the neighborhood there. You know who they were cheering.
These same boys were observed parading, waving flags back and forth, to the point of being a nuisance at a July 4th cookout. Knowing their families I can assure you that near every one will at some point serve in the military, the ultimate being a Marine.
The government failed many of them miserably in the quality of their education. But they are not stupid. Innately they know that race trumps all. they knew it at 5, 8, 11 and 15. I think the Olympics are a good thing. I do not follow sports very carefully, but it seems to me that any celebration of genuine excellence is fine. If blacks run faster and jump higher – I am glad to salute them for it. Is there really enough gold in a medal to make up for looking like Serena Williams instead of Maria Sharapova?
My favorite line was when one of the sports reporters remarked that the crew event looked like a rerun of the Viking Invasion. I am surprised that no one called it a hate crime!

I wouldn’t say ‘credit’ simply because the motive is a lot nearer what fender decried. But that doesn’t mean it won’t be interpreted as a warning of things to come, so it’s a good point. The problem is that as with Hollywood depictions, great lengths are gone to present a harmonius picture of everything working out and nothing to worry about. The nearly-white girl is very attractive, the mixed race family very happy, the future looking bright. I don’t have to tell anyone here that it isn’t like on the ground. It’s a terrifying train wreck.

There are many important ways not mentioned that the new does not rival the old. Refer here to Julius evola’s chapter on sports in Revolt against the Modern World for a really good read on this. Obviously the modern games are purely secular and the old were sacred. The old were sacred, the new profane.
The hellenism of the old games called for a truce between city states and hospitality to strangers– Hellenic ones that is, the barbarians were not a consideration. Old rivals new, with this bogus universalism that negates ethnicity and nation.
But there is one way the new and the old parallel. To win at the highest level the individual athlete must be ascetic in his or her self discipline and practice. Asceticism of course means the conquest of fleshly weaknesses and shortcomings and is in itself potentially a sanctifying pursuit.
Moreover the acme of a sport represents in its performance, ARETE, excellence, which like beauty is a value in itself.
One can value non-whites who have reached the acme of their sport and skill, who show ARETE, regardless of the venue. We would be total philistines if we could not appreciate a sports champion on that level.
I learned two karate styles from white men but I learned judo from a black man and aikido from a japanese. I had lessons with Remy Presas and Wally Jay that taught me more in hours than I had learned with other instructors in months. I can hardly say what kind of tomfoolery it is to depreciate a sports contestant purely because of different race, ethnic, or national origin.
There is nothing in genuine white loyalty or racial preservationism that necessarily requires a begruding attitude towards nonwhite contestants in sports.
Today Hitler is often slandered in conjunction wit hthe 35 olympics and the performance of the black American I forget his name. But I have seen and reseen Olympia and what I saw was a national leader applauding a victory politely without any animus.
All that being said all the racial-divdersity and tolerance foolishness of the Olympic organizers, is noxious, around and beyond the issue of the specific games themselves.
Reifenstahl’s work is in itself the right antidote to all the false pagentry of today’s games and shows what were probably the best of the modern Olympics, the 36 games. Sorry if that offends any of the Hitler-haters here.

It’s not just the Olympic opening ceremony that’s used to promote multi-culturalism (i.e. push multi-cultural/multi-racial propaganda) though.
When there is something in the media related to the Olympics (besides coverage of the competition itself), it seems that a multicultural theme will often be worked into the story in some way.
For example, an advertisement might have a “diverse” cast similar to that of the opening ceremony, or it might be story about how sport “brings people together” or something like that.

I always root for the white athlete, no matter what nation or pro or amateur sports team is playing. However, if the black wins fair and square, it doesn’t bother me, but I feel no pride as an American just to see our team win if we rely on blacks.
A great example of how we are told to think came on the Olympic telecast concerning a “British” 10,000 meter runner, Mo Farah, who was born in Somalia. They presented such a feel good story I was sure he had already won, but they claimed it was a live race. I turned it off, but I heard the British wildly cheered for the guy as he won. What is the meaning of it, really? Is winning the only thing that matters?
What is the glory to the average working Brit when a 100 pound Somali wins a gold medal?
Plenty of white guys and gals win medals, but not too many jews, no? No way to spin victory out of defeat when a timer is involved, or a scoreboard not based upon opinion.

Yup , the fact that blacks have denser bones so that they sink like rocks is a social construct too.
Also, whites have stronger upper bodies so they dominate throwing and lifting events.
Whites would dominate boxing too but boxing is and has been thoroughly fixed from the beginning , since it is such a strategic sport in terms of politics and sports betting/organized crime.

I also tend to think that, but there’s another story. Swimming is not a natural movement for humans, unlike running, so there is a great deal of improvements possible. Front crawl was introduced into Europe only in the 19th century, butterfly was invented in the 1930s, and many techniques have changed, e.g. with breaststroke, a generation or two ago 80% of the forward movement energy came from the legs, now it’s more like 50-50. Over the past 30 years turns have been improved to the point that now FINA restricts swimmers to spend no more than 15 meters underwater doing dolphin kicks (just imagine, this is almost a third of the total distance, which they cover almost effortlessly – 30 years ago they had to swim most of that distance, while breaking the surface of the water, slowing them down considerably). Pools have also changed, the present world and olympic records are being broken in wider and deeper pools, reducing water resistance and improving speed. Although full-coverage, low-drag swimsuits have been banned by FINA, the best swimsuits still provide considerable advantage over swimmers just fifteen years ago.
In Hungary many people think that Bolt is doping. I’m agnostic regarding that, but I’m cocksure he’s not a champion because of some drugs: his body seems to be carved for running, and his movements are simply flawless, whether jogging or running, real time or slow motion, you can see that he is moving the way a runner should move. (I have seen a video of myself while running, my movements were far from perfect…) I also find it hard to believe he has ever had access to any drugs to which his competitors didn’t also have access.
To cut a long story short: I think that with both Phelps and Bolt doping could only possibly be a part of the story, but definitely not the biggest part.
Meanwhile there’s a full line press on in the media to have a memorial to Munich enshrined in the Opening Ceremonies and further marinate the world in guilt and sympathy for poor little Israel.

That may be in the charter but you do not give adequate consideration to Coubertin as the driving impetus behind the revival of the modern games and his ideal conception of the role of competing nationalisms through sporting events.
Actually, 19th century Greek nationalists had very little to do with the modern games. Coubertin was the genius behind the entire thing and he had to seduce the Greeks because he wanted Athens as the site for the first event. His inspiration was primarily twofold: an embarrassment over the lack of French athletic development and his recognition that the Anglo-Saxon model inhering in the “English sporting gentleman” and the particular style of amateur sport that he learned in the English public schools (check Thomas Arnold – Rugby School) was a driving force behind the British Empire and the rise of the American regime. He also chose this model as superior to the then popular continental technique developed by the German “turning” movement, which gave virtually no value to individual accomplishment.
The Greco-Roman wrestling that I have been able to see has been very disappointing. There are virtually no suplexs, saltous, flying mares or any other move requiring skill, strength and flexibility.
There was one exception. I saw a match between a German, a real one, and an American, a black one. The black American looked like a case of affirmative action applied to Greco-Roman wrestling on the American team. Such a thing as affirmative action in sports does occur and it is exposed frequently at castefootball.com. He was fat and out of shape which is unheard of in wrestling below the heavyweight level.
The German trounced him and the commentator expressed such disappointment. I am an American and I was glad. One of my people won!
@John Hearns. Good points. Whites dominate strength sports because they have strong upper and lower bodies. Olympic weight lifters have been clocked coming out of the blocks much faster than olympic sprinters, and faster for the first several yards. They are stronger in the upper bodies and stronger in the legs, hips, and erector spinae. The deciding factor is endurance. Champion weight lifters have an unusual amount of fast twitch muscle fiber. Pure strength! Not endurance. The endurance issue is critical even in a sprint.
Pushup champions of endurance are generally not going to be bench press champions, and vice versa. Caucasians and some Asian mongoloids dominate true strength sports.
Here’s Aly: I’d already confirmed her Jewish background several days ago, before she actually got the medal, so I knew a lot would be made of her win–above and beyond.
It was a given that one way or another the Olympics committee was not going to get away with not allowing the minute of silence in honor of the Munich Jews.

To say that these people have a “dual loyalty” is an understatement. They have only one single loyalty : to their own tribe. It is therefore technically wrong to call these people “traitors” when they work against the interests of their host country. They are simply loyal to their own tribe as they think they should and they feel no obligation of any loyalty to the country they “accidentally” live in.
That is why a person such as Jonathan Pollard is so much venerated as an “hero” in Israel. He is a superb example of what Jewish loyalty really means, while his incarceration makes him a “martyr” for the good cause.

World In Israel, new modesty glasses for Orthodox Jewish men blur women out of their line of sight
The ultra-Orthodox community’s unofficial “modesty patrols” are selling glasses with special blur-inducing stickers on their lenses, so that men don’t have to see women they consider to be immodestly dressed.
JERUSALEM — It’s the latest prescription for extreme ultra-Orthodox Jewish men who shun contact with the opposite sex: Glasses that blur their vision, so they don’t have to see women they consider to be immodestly dressed.
In an effort to maintain their strictly devout lifestyle, the ultra-Orthodox have separated the sexes on buses, sidewalks and other public spaces in their neighborhoods. Their interpretation of Jewish law forbids contact between men and women who are not married.
Walls in their neighborhoods feature signs exhorting women to wear closed-necked, long-sleeved blouses and long skirts. Extremists have accosted women they consider to have flouted the code.
Now they’re trying to keep them out of clear sight altogether.
The ultra-Orthodox community’s unofficial “modesty patrols” are selling glasses with special blur-inducing stickers on their lenses. The glasses provide clear vision for up to a few meters so as not to impede movement, but anything beyond that gets blurry — including women. It’s not known how many have been sold.
For men forced to venture outside their insular communities, hoods and shields that block peripheral vision are also being offered.
The glasses are going for the “modest” price of $6.

Los Angeles has a large orthodox community. They and their large families are funded by their own crooked little businesses and the billionaire entertainment community.
The Los Angeles Jewish journal recently had 2 articles regarding kosher food.
First fruit and vegetables. Because insects crawl on vegetables and fruit while in the field, all vegetables and fruit for the truly kosher cannot be grown in fields and orchards. All produce must be raised in greenhouses without insects. Of course these greenhouses are owned by the kosher rabbis. Anyone who thinks that huge greenhouses can be kept insect free know nothing about insects and insect control. But the rabbis have certified these greenhouses as insect free.
There was some kvetching about paying $5.00 for a head of lettuce or half pound of green beans. Some vegetables such as asparagus and artichokes have been declared treif or unclean because the rabbis cannot pry the leaves apart to inspect for insects.
I highly, highly doubt that these expensive vegetables have been individually inspected byt the orthodox community believes it because the rabbis can do no wrong.
Next comes milk and dairy products. Usually the dairy products made by kosher producers come from ordinary cows. But the rabbis have declared goyish cows treif or unclean. From now on all milk and dairy products consumed by the orthodox of S. California will come from special jewish cows.

Whites dominate strength sports because they have strong upper and lower bodies. Olympic weight lifters have been clocked coming out of the blocks much faster than olympic sprinters, and faster for the first several yards. They are stronger in the upper bodies and stronger in the legs, hips, and erector spinae. The deciding factor is endurance. Champion weight lifters have an unusual amount of fast twitch muscle fiber. Pure strength! Not endurance. The endurance issue is critical even in a sprint.
Pushup champions of endurance are generally not going to be bench press champions, and vice versa. Caucasians and some Asian mongoloids dominate true strength sports.
Yes , whites are stronger than blacks taken as a whole. Have you seen any worlds strongest men competition ? It’s a test of general strength and it is totally dominated by whites. Unlike much of pro sports ; there is no betting on this competition so that it is not fixed.
The other Olympic general category where whites dominate is anything to do with throwing… discuss /shot put / javelin .
The modern Olympics don’t really interest me, so I haven’t watched any of it.
Instead I tried watching the Little League World Series — which is a baseball tournament featuring 11 and 12 year old boys.
I prefer watching them to the professional baseball players because:
1) They aren’t (over) paid $10 million per year to play a game
2) They don’t use steroids. At least I highly doubt that they do. The same can’t be said for the Major Leaguers, who are notorious cheaters.
3) They have more heart than the professionals.
It’s just a fun tournament to watch. (It airs on ESPN and ESPN 2)
Not surprisingly, this year I noticed some things that bothered me. The team from Hawaii has not one but two girls on it. Why can’t girls play in their own league?
Also, the announcers often mention some of the kids’ favorite things. Like if the batter at the plate has a favorite Hollywood actor or subject in school, he will mention it or it will be displayed across the t.v. screen.
Reading some of their favorites is depressing. One kid’s favorite actor is Betty White, and the next kid’s favorite is “Ice Cube” (a Black rapper / actor.) Literally. They were back to back just like that.
“Little” things like that bother me.
And then there was one mixed race kid at the plate, and the camera cut away to his parents — a Black male and White female — in the stands. They were sitting by themselves, not really near the other parents.
It’s like I can’t watch a simple game without seeing the Jewish influence.
Anyway, I prefer watching Little League World Series to most other TV sporting events. And since this is the one time of year that it airs, I figured I’d mention it.

NL , I’m not sure I understand your posts but I do agree with some of it.
I don’t know if you agree but the self chosen look down on you blacks and they want to use you black people against whites. They have made you “cool” on TV and big screen and they have done everything to make you look stronger in sport with more physical prowess than white guys so that white women will see you as good mating material. Boxing is probably the greatest way of showing who is tougher , and boxing is the easiest to fix. Fights have been fixed for blacks to win from the very start. Other pro sports are fixed to various degrees as well , while some of the olympics is questionable too but certainly less so.
The self chosen did all this fixing/manipulation to make sports bet money but also to use you as tools to create mixed raced half breeds who are all mixed up and easy to rule. They also did this since they can make a black guy rich with a big contract and then he is much easier for the their lawyers and agents to loot than a white guy since blacks tend to be of single moms and without the networks of support to fend off being scammed. You will notice how many black sports heroes end up broke or worse.
I know that blacks are different than whites , but we are the same in that we don’t like be be duped.

Hi Richard, It is good to hear from you. You may be interested to know that although girls cannot be kicked off of boys teams, the reverse is not true. ( see the link below) I was particularly horrified at the celebration of this as the women’s Olympics, complete with praise for various female boxers! .If those women are not careful, some smart man is going to decide to demand true equality and make the women complete against men! Am I really the only person in the world who sees women’s gymnastics as a perverse form of child abuse, especially when compared to rhythmic gymnastics which truly revere the grace, strength and beauty which are our natural gifts.

I agree — female boxing is offensive and ridiculous.
Even some of the milder sports like women’s soccer seem unnatural to me.
Some force in our culture wants girls / women to think and behave like boys / men.
I detest spectator sports. I endured some in college,dying of boredom. I always brought a book for the kids little league and soccer. Lucky me, husband never watched TV sports either. When our son was 9 he started asking to watch Monday night football. So that Christmas we bought him a second hand TV for $50.00 and put it in his room. He was thrilled to have his own TV and his sister and parents did not have to listen to professional sports.
But I was at the home of a French born friend for the US French women’s basketball. Well, I’m used to USA basketball being all black, but most of the “French” girls were Africans. So I watched politely.
Whenever White men on White websites go on and on about morbidly obese loser White women having black babies I always post there are at least 500,000 White men worshipping black TV athletes for every loser White woman who has a mulatto baby.
Do you know why France never hosts the Olympics? About 30 years ago they figured out that the costs of the Olympics to the host country, region and city was about one thousand times more than any money the host would make fromthe Olympics.
I agree with Alice about the girl’s gymastics uniforms. They actually wear beige or brown according to skin color tights that only cover the heel leaving the rest of the foot bare. But those practically bottomless leotards combined wtih the skin color tights are obscene.
They could perfectly wear tights that are dyed the color of the leotards to the lower thigh. Then it would look like they are wearing modest shorts. Dyed tights that look like shorts would not impede their movements, but it would not look so obscene when they are upside down with their legs spread as far apart as possible.
Another thing, Asian women are small, but Olympic investigators have discovered that some of the Chinese girls are as young as 9 years old and being passed off as 14. Of course the investigations are always done after the Olympics.
One thing the Olympics does, it really demonstrates how few White nations are left in the world.

A few years ago I convinced about 20 Persian medical interns, almost all Jews to file a discrimination lawsuit against the residency programs that did not accept them because they are White. Persians live with their families and like to live in a Persian community. They don’t want to move one thousand miles away when their are thousands of medical residencies close to home.

When I heard that, I thought, the what?
Although I’ve been jew aware for all of my adult life, I’d never heard of this.
So I looked it up and it’s amazing. Jew-only games, every four years, always held in Israel. Well, Arab citizens of Israel can also participate.
I had to keep from laughing when I read this part in the Wikipedia article:
“The 2005 Maccabiah Games attracted 900 representatives from the United States, 500 from Australia, and over 2,000 from Israel, bringing the total participants to more than 7,700. Israel finished at the top of the medal count with 227 gold medals. The United States was a distant second with 71 gold medals, while Russia came in third with 15.”
WOW, 227 gold medals. That’s about 227 more than Israel usually gets at the Olympics and about twice the number of the top countries in the Olympics.
Now, if I didn’t know about these games, I know for certain that at least 99% of other people don’t know about them either.
I wonder how people would feel if they found out that jews have their own Olympics, in which only they compete against one another and where Israel subsequently ends up winning the vast majority of “medals”?
I mean, can there be anything more bizarre?
Then there’s this nugget in the Wikipedia article:
“The 1997 Maccabiah Games were marred by a Maccabiah Bridge Disaster when a temporary bridge built for the march of athletes at the opening ceremony collapsed, plunging about 100 members of the Australian delegation into the polluted waters of Yarkon River. Four athletes were killed and 63 injured.”
If one reads the article about this “tragedy”, one finds out that three of the four fatalities occurred due to the river having been heavily polluted.
One can envision thousands of chosenites crossing a smelly river before entering the stadium. I mean with their big noses and all.
It’s been said before, but I’ll say it again. One can’t make this stuff up.

Oh, and as far as nationalism is concerned, it was one of the primary reasons, if not the primary reason, I lost interest in the Olympics long ago.
The last games I watched with any interest or enthusiasm were the ones in Montreal in 1976. After that, the games in Moscow were boycotted by the US in 1980 and the games in LA were boycotted by the Russians in 1984. Pfft, with those kind of “political statements” I don’t need to waste my time with the stuff.
Even without those two events I would have lost interest, simply because of the overhyped nationalism that’s always attached to the event. I just get tired of it.
As far as I’m concerned, the athletes should just compete as individuals. Of course, that will never happen, simply because the first thing most people will ask when someone wins an event is, “Wow, where is he/she from?”.
Bahh, on anything except an individual level, sports are overrated.
