Moshe Is Monitoring You: Duplicity, Double-Think and the Jewish Dream of a Communist Europe

Denis “The Slug” MacShane had a bad 2013. This veteran campaigner against anti-Semitism, a former Minister for Europe and policy advisor to Labour Friends of Israel, was charged with fraud in July and jailed shortly before Christmas (see here). But he must have been celebrating in March. Why? Because, like the journalist Nick Cohen and the lawyer Anthony Julius, he’s a staunch defender of free speech. In March, a university tribunal struck a strong blow for this vital freedom:

Lessons should be learned from this sorry saga. We greatly regret that the case was ever brought. At heart, it represents an impermissible attempt to achieve a political end by litigious means. It would be very unfortunate if an exercise of this sort were ever repeated … We are also troubled by the implications of the claim. Underlying it we sense a worrying disregard for pluralism, tolerance and freedom of expression. (See here)

Cohen, Julius and MacShane must have celebrated this ruling long into the night. When Cohen published a book defending free speech in 2012, Julius and MacShane wrote extravagantly positive reviews. Julius said the book deserved to stand beside “Milton’s Areopagitica and Mill’s On Liberty” (see here); MacShane saluted Cohen as heir to Voltaire and other “giants of the 18th century” (see here). That’s why they must have been so pleased by the university ruling in March. But what was the case about? Here are the details:

Denis MacShane, Friend of Free Speech

Denis MacShane, Friend of Free Speech

A Jewish academic who claimed the University and College Union’s policy on Palestine constituted harassment has been rebuked by an employment tribunal for misusing the legal process. Ronnie Fraser, a further education lecturer and founding director of Academic Friends of Israel, argued that the UCU [University and College Union] was institutionally anti-Semitic owing to motions passed in favour of a boycott of Israel.

Despite enlisting the services of Anthony Julius, best known as Diana, Princess of Wales’ divorce lawyer and a partner at Mishcon de Reya, all of his 10 claims of harassment have been “dismissed in their totality”. During the 20-day hearing in December, Mr Fraser called several witnesses to give evidence, including Howard Jacobson, the Booker Prize winning novelist, John Mann MP, the former MP Denis MacShane and numerous leading Jewish academics. …

The action is branded by tribunal panel members as “an impermissible attempt to achieve a political end by litigious means” and a case which showed a “worrying disregard for pluralism, tolerance and freedom of expression”. Scorn is also invoked for Mr Julius’s decision to pursue certain points, with complaints variously dismissed as “palpably groundless”, “obviously hopeless” and “devoid of any merit”. (Tribunal slams academic for bringing anti-Semitism case, Times Higher Education Supplement, 27th March 2013)

Anthony Julius, Friend of Free Speech

Anthony Julius, Friend of Free Speech

There you have it: Julius and MacShane were part of a determined assault on “pluralism, tolerance and freedom of expression.” Just to be clear: I don’t support left-wing boycotts of Israel. But Ronald Fraser’s claim was indeed an “impermissible attempt to achieve a political end by litigious means.” The absurdity of the case is underlined here:

Evidence given to us [the tribunal] about booing, jeering and harassing of Jewish speakers at Congress debates was also false, as truthful witnesses on the Claimant’s side accepted. One painfully ill-judged example of playing to the gallery was Mr Newmark’s preposterous claim, in answer to the suggestion in cross-examination that he had attempted to push his way into the 2008 meeting, that a “pushy Jew” stereotype was being applied to him. (UCU cleared of antisemitism – Anthony Julius charged with ‘being rubbish’, New Left Project, 26th March 2013)

Jan with a Plan

The participation of Julius and MacShane in this farce is proof that neither has the slightest belief in free speech. Indeed, MacShane invoked the All-Party Parliamentary Inquiry into Antisemitism, which he chaired in 2006 and which argued that merely reading “racist” material on the internet should be made a criminal offence (see here and here). It’s plain that Julius and MacShane are experts in duplicity and double-think.

It’s also plain that they’re Jewish supremacists and think that Jews should always get their own way. MacShane has never admitted to any Jewish ancestry, but it’s highly probable that he is part Jewish. He’s just found it useful to pretend otherwise. In The Jewish Chronicle, the journalist Martin Bright called him “one of the community’s greatest champions” and argued that “we should mourn Denis MacShane’s fall from grace” (see here). MacShane’s mother was Irish Catholic, but his father was a Pole called Jan Matyjaszek and came to the UK after the Second World War. Was his father Jewish? Many people think so. Some suggest that Matyjaszek was a communist agent too:

It looks like there was all sorts of dodginess about his father’s background that Denis MacShane is trying to cover up. … Looks like his dad was recruited by the communists as early as 1944 and sent on a mission to the UK. … The KGB was actively recruiting in the 1960s and 1970s. A major target was East European emigrés and their families. Who paid for MacShane’s private education that conveyed him through to Merton [College, Oxford]? Then a job with the BBC, a change of name, infiltration into Polish Solidarity and a political career. (Comments posted at MacShane Jailed for 6 Months, Guido Fawkes blog, 23rd December 2013 – see here, here and here)

MacShane’s “political career” was devoted to two things above all others: he campaigned tirelessly both for Jews and for the European Union. Obviously then, he sees the EU as good for Jews. So does Peter Mandelson, who was a minister in the New Labour government just like MacShane. Mandelson is now Britain’s Commissioner to the EU. Like many other prominent figures in New Labour, Mandelson was an active Marxist in his youth: he and the New Labour journalist David Aaronovitch were both communists (see here and here).

Traitors at the Top

The communists wanted to open the UK’s borders to the Third World. When New Labour’s “former” communists came to power, they did exactly that:

Labour sent out “search parties” for immigrants to get them to come to the UK, Lord Mandelson has admitted. In a stunning confirmation that the Blair and Brown governments deliberately engineered mass immigration, the former Cabinet Minister and spin doctor said New Labour sought out foreign workers. He also conceded that the influx of arrivals meant the party’s traditional supporters are now unable to find work. … Lord Mandelson’s remarks come three years after Labour officials denied claims by former adviser Andrew Neather that they deliberately encouraged immigration in order to change the make-up of Britain. Mr Neather said the policy was designed to “rub the Right’s nose in diversity”. He said there was “a driving political purpose: that mass immigration was the way that the Government was going to make the UK truly multicultural”. (Immigrants? We sent out search parties to get them to come…, The Daily Mail, May 13, 2013)

There has never been a democratic mandate in any European nation for mass immigration. It has been imposed on us by a greedy, corrupt and anti-democratic elite against the will of ordinary Whites. When those Whites object to their nations being flooded with outsiders, they’re called hateful, racist and xenophobic. That’s if they’re lucky. If they’re unlucky, they’re sent to jail for thought-crime. Denis MacShane firmly supports the European Union. This means that he firmly supports the crushing of free speech:

A Boot of Tolerance Stamping on a Human Face — Forever
Those who follow European political affairs may already be familiar with “A Model National Statute for the Promotion of Tolerance” (pdf available here), an OIC-approved framework proposal published by the European Parliament, which seems likely to be implemented across the EU. The proposed law would devise a draconian new form of politically correct “tolerance” and impose it on European citizens and institutions by establishing bureaucratic bodies with the authority to enforce it. (A Boot of Tolerance Stamping on a Human Face — Forever, Gates of Vienna, 14th November 2013)

Total Tolerance

Where does this “Model National Statute” come from? Readers of the Occidental Observer won’t need many guesses:

European Jewish Congress Calls on EU to Set Up State Surveillance of “Intolerant” Citizens

In a move described by a leading civil rights group as a “dark day for European democracy,” Moshe Kantor, President of the European Jewish Congress (ECJ) and former president of Poland, Aleksander Kwasniewski (real name Stoltzman), have called on the European Union to establish national surveillance units to monitor citizens of all 27 EU member states suspected of “intolerance.”

The two EJC leaders made the call at a “European Council on Tolerance and Reconciliation” (ECTR) submission to the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties (LIBE).

These “special administrative units,” the report says, “should preferably operate within the Ministry of Justice.”

“There is no need to be tolerant to the intolerant,” it states, especially “as far as freedom of expression is concerned.”

… Further, the draft statute goes on to say that “defamatory comments made in public and aimed against a group … with a view to … slandering the group, holding it to ridicule or subjecting it to the false charges” may be considered ‘group libel’ and, therefore, may be treated like acts of intolerance” as well as hate crimes.

Conspicuously absent, however, is any mention of balancing this with freedom of speech. (European Jewish Congress Calls on EU to Set Up State Surveillance of “Intolerant” Citizens, The New Observer, 9th November 2013)

Moshe Kantor near some art without frontiers

Moshe Kantor near some art without frontiers

Moshe Kantor is a very wealthy citizen of Russia, not of the EU. He deserves to be much better-known. Like Denis MacShane and Anthony Julius, he’s a Jewish supremacist and wants Europe to be run by Jews for the benefit of Jews. This means destroying free speech and promoting great art. Well, Kantor thinks it’s art, at least. In 2009, he oversaw an exhibition in Geneva called “My Homeland is in My Soul, Art without Frontiers: the Jewish Contribution to European Art and Culture” (see here). Here is part of that contribution:

Chaim Soutine Le Patissier de Cagnes

Le Pâtissier de Cagnes (c. 1922), Chaim Soutine

I don’t know which I find more repulsive: that painting (worth $9.5m) or Kantor’s proposals for “state surveillance” of the “intolerant.” But many powerful Europeans have joined Kantor in his campaign to crush free speech and promote repulsive art. What do they see in this Russian billionaire?

The European Council on Tolerance and Reconciliation (also ECTR) was established in Paris, France on October 7, 2008 to monitor tolerance in Europe. The Chairman of the Council was former President of Poland Aleksander Kwaśniewski (until 2013), and the Co-chairman is President of the European Jewish Congress Viatcheslav Moshe Kantor.

As a tolerance watchdog, the ECTR prepares practical recommendations to governments and international organisations on improving interreligious and interethnic relations on the continent. The Council is one of few international organisations focused on fighting xenophobia, antisemitism and racial discrimination in the modern world.

The ECTR includes such notable political and public figures as:

• José María Aznar, former Prime Minister of Spain;
• Erhard Busek, former Vice-Chancellor of the Republic of Austria;
• George Vassiliou, former President of the Republic of Cyprus;
• Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga, former President of the Republic of Latvia;
• Rita Süssmuth, former Speaker of the German Bundestag;
• Igor Ivanov, former Foreign Minister and Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Professor of MGIMO-University;
• Milan Kučan, former President of Slovenia;
• Alfred Moisiu, former President of Albania;
• Göran Persson, former Prime Minister of Sweden;
• Vilma Trajkovska, President of the Boris Trajkovski International Foundation;
• Talât Sait Halman, former Turkish Minister of Culture and Professor of Bilkent University.

On November 9–16, 2008, the ECTR was among initiators and organisers of a series of events held as part of the European Week of Tolerance on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of die Kristallnacht and International Day for Tolerance. In the course of official events the ECTR presented a draft European Framework Convention on Promoting Tolerance and Combating Intolerance and the Concept for a White Paper on Tolerance to the European Parliament. Both of these innovative conventions have great significance for promoting tolerance in Europe.

The European Week of Tolerance was co-organised by the ECTR, the European Jewish Congress, the European Parliament, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the Russian Jewish Congress, the World Holocaust Forum Foundation and the Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Remembrance Authority Yad Vashem. (Wikipedia entry for ECTR;  the “Framework” and “Concept” can both be viewed at Moshe Kantor’s website)

The European Council on Tolerance and Reconciliation is a deeply sinister Orwellian organization. It’s at the heart of a campaign to impose viciously intolerant communism on an unwilling continent. So far that campaign is going well. Like Peter Mandelson and Denis MacShane, Moshe Kantor is dedicated to the destruction of White Christian Europe and its replacement with a union of slave-states permanently crippled and impoverished by violent and corrupt non-Whites. That’s why he and the rest of the Euro-elite have opened Europe’s borders to mass immigration from the Third World.

But anger is growing right across Europe. I think there will be big changes here well before the end of the decade. The criminal elite are riding a tiger. We shall soon see whether the tiger has kept its teeth.

Denis MacShane self-destructed, but I salute his admirable career

He is a passionate pro-European. As Europe minister at the Foreign Office, he was in his element. Unusually for a British politician, he is fluent in several languages, which gave him a credibility with his opposite numbers in Europe that most British ministers lacked. At times his passion for the EU exceeded that of the government of which he was a member. From time to time the foreign secretary, Jack Straw, would be on the receiving end of complaints from Downing Street about MacShane’s extra-curricular activities in Europe.

Denis MacShane given glowing character references as he faces jail

Among those who spoke up in defence of the former Europe Minister was Labour deputy leader Harriet Harman, who described him as “well liked and admired by leaders in politics throughout Europe”. She added: “I have never known him to be duplicitous, financially greedy, or deceptive.”

But the court heard another testimony from former steelworker, Lord David Brookman, who suggested MacShane’s achievements had gone even further, with him playing a major part in the dismantling of the Apartheid regime.

Why we should mourn Denis MacShane’s fall from grace

A year ago, I wrote in these pages that the Jewish community needed to decide if it wished to stand by one of its greatest champions after he resigned as MP for Rotherham. His disgrace is greater now and there is every reason to feel disappointed in Denis and even let down. There are those who will suggest that the causes he espoused are somehow morally poisoned by the crimes to which he has admitted.

There are certainly some who will draw comfort from the fact that such an active campaigner has been removed from the field.

I have no doubt that, whatever happens, Denis MacShane will be back. He has reinvented himself before and he will do it again, perhaps under his original name, Denis Matyjaszek. But, for now, others must enter the rather large space he vacates fighting racism and totalitarianism. His causes are pure, even if Denis MacShane is less so.
