‘Juden stellen sich vor!’ (‘Jews Introduce Themselves!’) was a popular anti-Semitic pamphlet created and published by the long-time German Gauleiter of Thuringia, friend of Adolf Hitler and publisher of ‘Der Stürmer’ Julius Streicher in 1934 through his publishing house ‘Stürmer Verlag’. The bulk of the pamphlet is funny cartoons drawn by ‘Der Stürmer’s’ long-time cartoonist ‘Fips’ (Philipp Rupprecht).

It was targeted at a working class and younger audience who were less likely to want to read extended discussions of the jewish question and to communicate facts about the jews to them using the medium of cartoon humour and lampoons.

The inspiration for ‘Juden stellen sich vor!’ is likely to have been the popular and much-republished 1932/1933 booklet ‘Juden sehen Dich an’ (‘Jews are looking at you’) by prolific National Socialist academic and writer Johann von Leers and published by ‘N.S.-Druck und Verlag’ in Berlin, which follows a similar pattern but using photographs of jews and those believed/claimed to be jews at the time.

It is likely that Streicher sought to capitalize on the massive success of ‘Juden sehen Dich an’ with his own spin on Leers’ heavy on pictures and humour concept – which Leers did not create but did popularize – with ‘Juden stellen sich vor!’ but reducing it down to an absolute minimum of text and swapping out Leers’ use of photographs for funny cartoons drawn by ‘Fips’.

This translation is presented to the public as part of the broader effort to translate anti-jewish and nationalist texts that are hidden behind languages other than English and thus inaccessible to the average English reader who wishes to further their political and racial education. Translating German works from the Imperial German Empire, Weimar Germany and pre-war Third Reich periods presents a special difficulty as they were often published using Fraktur script, which was a uniquely German phenomenon and is hard to read even for fluent German speakers unused to decrypting the different letter symbols used in the script. Thus, to translate them into another language one has to transcribe them into modern German before translating them into said foreign language.

‘Jews Introduce Themselves!’

Every people has its fatherland. The jews alone are an exception, they are a people without a homeland. They live divided among the gentiles, and among all peoples of the world they are hated. They are hated because they do not do honest work for their daily bread. They are hated because they satisfy their greed for money by engaging Talmudic deceptions. In the jewish book of the Talmud, the jews are told that the property of non-jews is “ownerless property” which the jew is allowed to acquire through usury, fraud and deceit. And whatever the “profession” may be called in which the jew earns his money; he is and always remains a jew in fact and belief.

Such criminal behavior inevitably generates hatred against the jews (anti-Semitism) and provokes defensive struggles by the non-jews among whom they live. The fight that the Nazarene waged 2,000 years ago against the jewish tax collectors ended with his horrific suffering and execution at Golgotha. The judgment that Jesus Christ passed on the jews continues to characterize the jewish people for all time:

‘You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me!’ (John 8:44-45) (1)

That the German people were also on their way to becoming the victims of jewish world criminality is proven by the results of the jewish rule that ended in 1933.

The German weekly newspaper ‘Der Stürmer’ has made it its mission to convey knowledge about the reality of the jew to the German people. It has been doing this for 10 years and will continue to do so until it is certain that the German people are finally free from the danger of once again falling under jewish rule and thus being exterminated by them. ‘Der Stürmer’ will continue its work of enlightenment in its own way. The good people of Germany have always understood ‘Der Stürmer’ and will always understand it. And the hatred and rage with which the intellectual servants of world jewry attack ‘Der Stürmer’ are proof that ‘Der Stürmer’ is on the right path.

Whoever wants to impart the knowledge about the jew must know the jew. That the artist and cartoonist of ‘Der Stürmer’ also knows the jew like this; he has shown since the day when he first took his pen in hand and volunteered for the front line of the world struggle by working for ‘Der Stürmer’, he shows the jew exactly as he is. The expressive power with which ‘Fips’ (2) can depict the physical and mental aspects of the jewish race in his drawings is unique. The genuine truth is often rough and simple. ‘Der Stürmer’ has always been real and honest and accordingly the language which it uses and the form in which it presents the truth can seem harsh because it is real and not false. And because ‘Fips’ also wants to be – and to remain – true and genuine, he has to be coarse and harsh, where the cowardly and soft-hearted would like to praise the mask of hypocrisy as the better part of prudence rather than deal with the harsh reality of the jew.

In ‘Jews Introduce Themselves!’ we refrain from including all the cartoons and drawings that ‘Fips’ created. Where ‘Fips’ speaks to you with an artistic hand blessed by God, no explanatory words are needed. ‘Fips’ knows how to convey the essence of the jew; the characteristic of which he carries as knowledge within him. Whoever lets ‘Fips’’ work speak to their eyes will not remain untouched in their soul either, and that is what ‘Fips’ aims to achieve with his art: he wants to draw his knowledge into the soul of his German compatriot. Jews introduce themselves as they really are, as they always were and always will be. Jews introduce themselves as they really are and of whom the fighter from Nazareth said of them that their father is the devil.

He was ‘Der Stürmer’s’ only regular cartoonist from December 1925 to May 1945 with the only year that ‘Der Stürmer’ had another regular cartoonist being 1927.
