Glenn Beck has not exactly been a favorite around here (see here, here, and here), but his series on George Soros is intriguing to say the least. Beck has honed in on Soros as the root of all evil, and he has emphasized the point that Soros is Jewish. Beck seems have two main complaints: that Soros is a major funder of the left and that he is a currency manipulator poised to take down the dollar and foment revolution in the US.
Soros is well-known for funding the left, but Beck sees Soros as orchestrating the entire show:“For months, Glenn has been pulling back the structure progressives have worked decades to put in place. Beneath every layer lies one common thread: George Soros.” Beck’s team highlights Soros’ self-image as a messianic figure who believes he is able to change the world in his image: “If truth be known, I carried some rather potent messianic fantasies with me from childhood which I felt I had to control, otherwise I might end up in the loony bin. But when I made my way in the world, I wanted to indulge myself in my fantasies to the extent that I could afford.” Beck’s website shows how Soros funds the left, including Moveon.org, ACORN, Center for American Progress, the Tides Foundation, the Open Society Institute, and the National Council of La Raza.
Beck thinks that Soros is poised to bring down the United States in the same way he has other countries—by collapsing the currency and causing a revolution: “I told you there was a structure being put in place designed to bring about the fundamental transformation that has been promised. Through the course of this journey of discovery, amazingly, all the paths time after time really led to one man: George Soros, one guy. There’s a crisis slashing our economy: George Soros….He pulls no punches about the endgame: it’s one-world government, the end of America’s prevailing status as the world power.” Why?” The video goes on to recount Soros’ role in attacking the currencies of England, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Russia, and Japan and in funding the revolutions throughout post-communist Eastern Europe. He now has his sights on the US which he sees as the main obstacle for human progress, favoring devaluation of the dollar and producing a “global society without borders or individual governments.”
There is a sense of urgency: “I knowthat soon, soon the gates of hell are going to be opening up….the only way to stop it is the sunlight….Your children’s, my children’s freedom, the republic is at stake.” “And the reason why I have built this show [on Soros] up so much is time is of the essence. … We either are going to be destroyed or we will destroy them. But once we’re out in the light and the shadows are gone, then the clock is ticking.” He has a two-year time horizon on the process: If it doesn’t happen in two years, he says we can all laugh at him; but of course, he could also argue that exposing Soros now was effective in changing Soros’ behavior and averting disaster.
As to how to prepare for the coming end times, he says that “they are deflating, collapsing the dollar in a controlled way” (see here), a policy explicitly advocated by Soros. Higher interest rates are coming; there will be unrest and the government will have to step in. His advice is to stock up with food (he has a year’s supply for his family) and get out of debt. He also advocates buying gold. In one his commercials promoting gold, he talks about gold as a defense against the coming crisis and does a Yiddish-like imitation of Soros saying that you have to protect yourself.
Essentially, Beck is making Soros into the main figure behind the current financial crisis and the movement to devalue the dollar. This is an oversimplification. Soros will doubtless position himself to benefit from how the crisis plays out (as he has always done and as Beck is counseling his audience to do). But I have never seen any evidence that Soros was the prime mover of the financial fraud and mismanagement that caused the financial crisis or that he is the main force behind the Fed’s policy of quantitative easing designed to devalue the dollar.
Beck foresees a possible complete meltdown far worse than the present malaise. Blaming it on one person is certainly effective rhetorically. It simplifies the problem for his audience by allowing them to focus on one person as the source of all the problems.
In his show and on his website, Beck emphasizes that Soros is a Jew (although under pressure he later saidthat Soros being Jewish is irrelevant to his behavior and that he (Beck) is more pro-Jewish and pro-Israel than Soros). Beck dwells quite a bit on Soros’ wartime experience (much to the consternation of the ADL), the ostensible point being that Soros has never shown any guilt about his behavior and indeed seems to have valued his experience—“the happiest year of his life.” The implication is that Soros is a sociopath willing to turn on his own people: He learned that by hiding his own identity as a Jew, he could gain power and survive.
George Soros is a guy that had to wear a mask. When he was 14 years old, Hitler moved in to Hungary. And Soros is Jewish. His real name is George Schwartz. [He helped] “deliver papers to the Jews and confiscate their property and then ship them off. And George Soros was part of it. He would help confiscate the stuff. It was frightening. Here’s a Jewish boy helping send the Jews to the death camps. And I am certainly not saying that George Soros enjoyed that, even had a choice. I mean, he’s 14 years old. He was surviving. … You would think that there would be some remorse as an 80-year-old man or a 40-year-old man or a 20-year-old man, when it was all over, you would do some soul searching and say, “What did I do? What did I do?” George Soros is not a fan of the state of Israel. George Soros is — many people would call him an anti-semite. I will not. I don’t know enough about all of his positions on Jews. I know his mother, in George Soros’s own words, his mother was an anti-semite. And so he just has this weird, weird world view. (See here and the video clip below summarizing Beck’s basic ideas.)
The Beck website quotes extensively from Connie Bruck’s New Yorker portraitof Soros which notes that Soros has accepted an identity as a Jew (“I am ready to stand up and be counted [as a Jew]”). Further indicating his strong sense of Jewish identity, in a New York Review of Books articleSoros stated “I have a great deal of sympathy for my fellow Jews and a deep concern for the survival of Israel.
However, Soros claims to oppose Jewish tribalism: “I am escaping the particular. I think I am doing exactly that by espousing this universal concept” — of open society. “In other words, I don’t think that you can ever overcome anti-Semitism if you behave as a tribe… the only way you can overcome it is if you give up the tribalness.”
Soros’ solution to anti-Semitism, therefore, is to retain a Jewish identity but to end Jewish tribalism—a questionable proposal given how closely linked Jewish identity is to the idea of collective Jewish interests. Would he advocate dismantling the ADL? Dismantle AIPAC? Throughout history Jewish identity, whether religious or not, has always implied a sense of collective interests; Jewish groups have always felt a connection and sense of common interests with Jews in other countries.
Further, Jewish commitment to leftist universalism has always been accompanied by strong Jewish identities (see here, p. 80ff)—hence the finding that Jewish support for leftist causes waxed and waned depending on whether they were seen as satisfying Jewish interests. Beck makes much of the fact that Soros’ father was an Esperanto-speaking radical—in other words, a member of the very mainstream Jewish subculture of the left that was the most important Jewish subculture of 20th century. Leftist Jews were “attracted to radical political solutions that would transform the economic and political basis of society and would also be consistent with the continuity of Judaism” (p. 81). Universalist ideologies of the left “function as a secular form of Judaism” (p. 87).
Soros’ behavior fits entirely into the mainstream of contemporary Diaspora Judaism in the West—a strategy designed to decrease the power and influence of the White European majority of America. Contra Beck, it’s hard to see Soros as a uniquely powerful, indispensable funder of the left. His leftist activism is no different from the activism of a host of well-funded explicitly Jewish organizations like the ADL or de facto Jewish organizations (because of Jewish funding) like the SPLC. His political involvement reflects the political stance of the great majority of American Jews, 83% of whom voted for Obama and support progressive causes. Indeed, the organized Jewish community has not only been the most important force in ending the European bias of American immigration laws, it has assiduously courted alliances with non-White ethnic groups, including Blacks, Latinos, and Asians overwhelmingly aligned with the Democratic Party. Like Soros, the American Jewish community opposes any indication of White racial or ethnic consciousness while also supporting organizations like La Raza that promote the ethnic consciousness and interests of non-Whites.
When it comes to Israel, it has recently been revealed that Soros is a major funder of J Street, the relatively dovish pro-Israel lobbying group. This could mean that Soros is less hypocritical than the vast majority of American Jews who continue to support AIPAC and the Israel Lobby despite their very unprogressive support of Israel’s pro-apartheid, pro-ethnic cleansing policies. J Street and Soros support an aggressive U.S. role in the Middle East, they oppose settlement building, and are open to talks with Hamas.
However, it has also recently come out that Soros funds neoconservatives with a history of support for the most racialist elements in Israel. This indicates that his support for the left on policy toward Israel is not strongly principled. Minimally, it indicates that he would accept a Republican government dominated by neoconservatives favoring the most racialist elements in Israel if it managed to contain White populist anger in America. Neoconservative support for pretty much the entire social program of the left, including especially support for massive non-White immigration, is legendary.
A cynic would observe that the lack of effectiveness of J Street to date means that it mainly functions to give Judaism a softer veneer that is consistent with post-racial, multicultural America without having any effective influence on lessening the support of the Israel Lobby for Israel as an apartheid, expansionist, racialist state. Indeed, J Street recently noted “a deep commitment to Israel…[is] interwoven deep in the soul of American Jewish political identity.”
The reality is that American policy toward Israel is determined almost completely by the composition of the Israeli government which is now the most racialist in its history. Simply put, the American Jewish community will not discontinue its support for Israel no matter how racialist it is—collective Jewish interests and all that. Given the demographics of Israel which is increasingly dominated by highly fertile ethnic and religious fanatics, the racialist policies emanating from Israel will continue or get more extreme in the foreseeable future. With all his money, Soros cannot change this even if he wanted to.
Soros’ sense of messianic fervor that Beck dwells on reflects the Jewish guru syndrome that is a theme of The Culture of Critique. Absolute confidence and a sense of certainty were typical of Jewish leaders of intellectual movements like Freud as well as financial fraudsters like Bernie Madoff.
As for Beck, it is intriguing to imagine what influence his end times scenario might have on his millions of fans. Beck is far from the only person who sees an economic catastrophe and hyper-inflation looming. If and when this happens, Beck’s analysis may become an important part of the world view of many displaced and disaffected Whites. Even though Beck has stated that Soros Jewishness was not relevant to his actions, the image of Soros the Jewish master manipulator is sure to remain in the minds of Beck’s followers and it’s hard to imagine that Beck did not intend this. It’s a short step from blaming Soros to blaming Jews in general, especially when it is well-known that the organized Jewish community and a decisive majority of American Jews are on board with his leftist agenda in the US.
An important aspect of the National Socialist world view was that Jews had caused the hyperinflation of the 1920s that resulted in untold misery among the Germans. A recent article summarizing ideas from Dying of Money: Lessons of the Great German and American Inflations notes that “a conspiracy theory took root that the inflation was a Jewish plot to ruin Germany. The currency became known as ‘Judefetzen’ (Jew-confetti), hinting at the chain of events that would lead to Kristallnacht a decade later.” Beck is doing nothing to lessen the perception that Jews are responsible for the current and looming financial meltdown and, to be sure, there is no shortage of Jewish names involved in the current crisis.
Hence the anxiety in high places.

George Soros is a capitalist and an opportunist. Glenn Beck is similar to Soros in that respect, but on a smaller scale. However, Soros is more sophisticated and better educated. Beck is still trying to figure out why his predictions on inflation have not come true. His fellow Mormon (FDR’s treasury secretary) could have explained it to him: Monetary policy in a very severe economic downturn is ineffective (like “pushing on a string”). Deflation is the more serious threat.
Soros is pretty good at recognizing an overvalued currency. He usually guesses right, though he has screwed up. Actually, the dollar is overvalued and needs to come down to reduce the trade deficit and unemployment. China, though, works to keep that from happening.

Correction: Marriner Stoddard Eccles, after a stint working in the Treasury Department, was FDR’s appointment as chairman of the Federal Reserve Board.
They’re not insouciant about deflation beyond the point where they feel in control, they’ll resort to any artifice to avoid a 30′s situation, hence things will tend get worse slowly and the real situation will be concealed from the public.
If I read Recent research on Individualism/Collectivism correctly, it seems to show that Germans are quite a bit more collectivist than the British. The German population’s acceptance of the National Socialist world view must have owed quite a bit to that fact. It follows that things would have to get worse than they did in 30′s Germany for US and UK Whites to start thinking collectively about issues of ethnic friend or foe.
The bankers are getting ready to gang rape China just as they did Japan in the 90′s. Blaming China suits American racists but is it really the fault of the Chinese that the Fed is destroying America? I tend to think that the Rubin/Sommers/Ivy League crowd will be more than happy to pin all their problems on Soros the international Jew bogeyman. Totally correct. This same phenomenon occcured in the US 2004 elections and the UK 2005 where a nominally Catholic ran. In the case of the UK the opponent was Jewish. Catholics voted in exactly the same proportion for the respective candidates as the rest of the general population. They vote for those least hostile to their beliefs so both Bush and Howard (UK) were seen as marginally more pro-life than their Catholic opponents.
In Weimar Germany, the NSP would have been seen as ammoral regardless of the nominally Catholic leadership. Similar situation to Kerry and Blair.

Wasn’t all post-antiquity Western Europe Catholic before Luther/Calvin? The post-Westphalian map of Europe was, as you know, the outcome of the Thirty Years’ War, in which elites chose religious affiliation for their respective populations.
I think the individualism/collectivism research explains a lot. Expectations that people will suddenly ‘get it’ and start thinking collectively just because Germans did in a somewhat similar situation ought to be laid to rest.
I strongly doubt that research like this explain anything. Correlations are descriptive, not explanatory.
I also think that the above mentioned research has a reductionistic tendency that seems a bit out of place in this century. Along similar lines, there are scientists trying to show that consciousness is a neuronic phenomenon…
I think people here in the US will be in outrage mode, when they are told that the Jews have stolen from the social security trust fund, and spent it on wars for the Jew homeland.

True, but in propaganda, framing and repetition are everything. Beck’s weepy, subservient, and above all, typical Christian attitude towards Soros’ Jewishness guarantees that this awareness he is fostering would be extremely difficult to convert into an anti-Semitic movement. Beck’s attitude is “Oh, and what makes this even more inexplicable is, he’s one of the Holy People, too!” The idea of a Jew being evil is a real mind-boggler for Beck and the simpletons in his virtual congregation. Beck’s gobsmacked; he just can’t believe it. It’s almost as though Jesus Christ himself had spat in his face. Beck also stresses many times each day that if there’s anything even more evil than Soros, it’s Hitler and White racism. For Beck and his listeners, it goes without saying that there is and can be no such thing as White interests. When framed in this way, day after day, over and over again, his listeners are conditioned in advance to avoid at all costs connecting the dots between Soros and other subversive Jews, or in any way seeing Jews as a collectivity opposed to their own.
Glenn Beck is a fool. His rambling, incoherent rhetoric serves only to muddy the waters and confuse the masses. We don’t need to confer Emmanuel Goldstein status on George Soros. Cultural Marxism is a broad-based movement with many players. In the big scheme of things, Soros (however loathsome) is but a bit player.

Yes, the series Glenn Beck did on George Soros is fascinating. Almost everything he said in that show was true. The interesting question is: Why the buffoon was tasked with this mission and why now? The Jews, as always, are two steps ahead in the game.

He is quite happy with the puppet role scripted for him and plays it with great pleasure. Beck boy’s only challenge during the entire show is maintaining solemn air and resisting the overwhelming urge to burst out laughing.
Not bad, uh, for a 32 million dollar puppet string that makes this buffoon move and soothe, plow and bow, lie and cry. Watch the Dutch documenatry from which the Richard Perle still comes at the top of this page. There we see British jews warning that there is going to be a reaction against the American neo-cons. It is for that reason that the neo-cons pose a danger to Israel.
The amazing thing is that it went out on Dutch TV but frankly I am still not seeing enough people joining the dots. In Tony Blair’s autobiography “neo-con” isn’t even in the index and he gets away with it.
Great article. What Beck is doing has a bigger impact than just the Soros issue. It exposes people to a new way of thinking about social dynamics. Most people are totally unaware that some ethnic groups will more or less conspire to achieve political and social ends. It is amazing how naive the average White American is. The more exposure this gets the better – however it is important for it not to solely focus on Soros in the long run. Soros is just one person and he is certainly not the “head of the conspiracy”, nor is their likely such a person that is the “big cheese”.
By the way, I also notice that Goldman Sachs is the absolute center of disdain by the American people in all of this, whether it comes from the Left or the Right.
Also, I would not be as pessimistic as many seem to be about American Whites finally acting to preserve their own interests. After all, for all of the 18th and 19th century, Whites, including most Presidents, were openly pro-White. This continued on somewhat into the 20th century. After all, this country did have slavery, it did seek to keep Hispanics out for a very long time, it did refuse to allow Jews into country clubs, etc. So, the potential for racial self-awareness is still there.
In fact, I was looking at an old school book from the 1920s and it quite openly talked about how White men had conquered North America – and not in a bad way!
So we’ll see. Personally I am not interested in a fascist version of Americanism and I don’t think it would ever work. The most ideal state would be if Whites in the US finally understood that the individualism they love can only survive in a pro-White, basically Anglo-Saxon type of society.
Oh and also – what about China’s impact on all this in the long run? China, the ultimate collectivist society, is likely to become ever more powerful in the next decade. We will see the rise of a homogeneous nation/empire/civilization that will wield tremendous power. As China grows and the US sputters, how much harder will it be to sing the praises of multiculturalism.
Most economists expect the US to have very slow growth for the next 10 years. In late 2008 Democrat Congressman Paul Kanjorski accidentally lifted the curtain that normally hides the Wizards of Oz in the Federal Reserve and US Treasury. Subsequently on the 19th of September Hank Paulson announced publicly that he needed $700 billion to save the banking system from collapse. When his plan was met with public outrage and general congress revolt Hank Paulson had a closed door meeting with Congress after which most members of Congress voted for the Paulson plan. It has subsequently been reveled, from several sources, that Hank Paulson threatened the imposition of Martial Law if his bank bailout plan was not passed immediately.

Someone or group of speculators was able to amass the funds to break America’s economy. An educated guess would be convicted felon George Soros. The Democratic Congress made no move to exercise its proper role of oversight. There was no Pecora Commission to investigate the details of this. The Bush administration was similarly derelict. What Beck is suggesting has been tried and is likely sitting on the shelf to be taken down again at the first opportunity.

Atheist Soros Funds Catholic Groups

The critical role of the Catholic Church in passing national health care reform legislation is coming under serious media scrutiny. But the story has taken a strange turn. It has now been revealed that George Soros, the billionaire hedge fund operator and well-known atheist, has been pouring hundreds of thousands of dollars into “progressive” Catholic groups that are significant players in the national debates over health care and immigration.
On the surface, it would appear that Soros would be opposed to many positions of the Catholic Church. A major financial backer of the ACLU, Soros supports such causes as drug legalization, the rights of “sex workers” and felons, euthanasia, radical feminism, abortion rights, and homosexual rights. He does all of this in the name of promoting an “open society.”
But a review of the records of his Open Society Institute finds that a group calling itself Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good (CACG) has received $200,000 from them over the last several years.
James Todd of Pewsitter.com, which represents traditional Catholics, calls such groups “CINOs,” or Catholics In Name Only. He explains, “This group and several others have sprung up recently-I suspect purposely organized and funded-to counterbalance the growing influence of the faithful Catholics AND to try to deceive and mislead the middle of the road Catholics that have determined the last 13 Presidential elections.”
An AIM investigation also finds, however, that Soros money has gone into the Catholic Legal Immigration Network (CLINIC), an organization established by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops back in 1988. It has received at least $530,000 from the Open Society Institute.
The two issues merge in the fact that the Catholic Bishops are demanding that national health care legislation cover illegal aliens.
In a story headlined, “Religious Leaders Seek Healthcare for Illegal Immigrants,” the Los Angeles Times recently quoted Kathy Saile, director of domestic social development with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, as saying that illegal immigrants should be included in any healthcare reform plan. Father Richard Estrada of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Los Angeles was described as being part of a religious service and phone bank “to urge congressional leaders to include illegal immigrants in any healthcare reform plan.” His church has in the past offered sanctuary to illegal immigrants.
CACG played a role in House passage of H.R. 3962, the bill known as Pelosicare and boasts that it had joined with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Catholic Health Association, and “dozens of other Catholic and faith-based groups in celebrating this historic vote.”
The group’s blog even offered a “Health Care Reform Prayer,” asking for God’s help in passing federal legislation.
John Gehring, CACG media director, told AIM that “We have been primarily focused on highlighting the moral dimensions of this issue and articulating how Catholic social teaching addresses health care as a human right central to a just society. Along with other faith-based groups like PICO National Network, Faith in Public Life, Sojourners and others we brought citizens and faith leaders to Capitol Hill several weeks ago to meet with representatives and they emphasized the urgency for reform and specifically the critical issue of affordability. For example, Fr. Joseph Shad, S.J., a hospital chaplain at Mercy Hospital in Portland, Maine, came to Capitol Hill and met with representatives. He shared stories we have collected from citizens across the country as part of our project, Voices for Health Reform.”
On the passage of the Affordable Health Care for America Act, H.R. 3962, CACG said, “As Catholics, we applaud the efforts of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Bart Stupak, and others who helped extend current restrictions on federal funding of abortion to health plans participating in the public [health] exchanges.”
But Judie Brown of the American Life League says the provision doesn’t go far enough and accuses the Bishops who lobbied for passage of wanting “mandatory, government-run health care for one and all more than it desires the protection of all vulnerable human beings’ right to life.”
The anti-abortion restrictions, Brown points out, still permit federal funding of abortions in some circumstances. What’s more, she says the bill:
Expands access to and funding of abortifacient contraception (section 1714).
Promotes federal funding of Planned Parenthood-style permissive sex education programs (section 2526).
Allows euthanasia through withholding or withdrawing “medical treatment or medical care” and withholding or withdrawing of “nutrition or hydration” (section 240).
Has only vaguely worded references to conscience rights and only partial protection of the same (section 258 and 259).
Contains language that forces a “participating health benefits plan” to not “discriminate” against any facilities that provide, pay for, provide coverage of, or refer for abortions (section 304).
Meanwhile, Michael Cannon of the Cato Institute says that “Catholics should be outraged at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops” because while they succeeded in getting a pro-abortion provision dropped from the bill, they “abandoned the Church’s doctrine of subsidiarity by endorsing the rest of the Democrats’ plan to centralize power in Washington.” Cannon says his grandfather served as counsel to the Bishops.
But the Soros-funded Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good has high-level connections of its own. The Treasurer-Secretary is Francis Xavier Doyle, a former top official of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, and the Executive director is Victoria Kovari, a former organizer for the Gamaliel Foundation, the same group that helped launch Barack Obama’s career as a community organizer in Chicago. The chairman is Alfred M. Rotondaro, a senior fellow at another Soros-funded group, the Center for American Progress.
Although CACG describes itself as “a lay Catholic organization that works to promote the common good and the broad spectrum of Catholic social teaching,” Frank Walker of the conservative Pewsitter website labels it a religious and political Trojan Horse designed to mislead Catholics and produce votes for the Democratic Party.
One purpose of the Soros money, Walker says, is to play down the importance of the abortion issue to Catholics and even make abortion rights a “respectable” Catholic position.
Walker notes that “The CACG is run and advised by powerful Democrats. Their board, staff, and advisory committee include top fundraisers and strategists as well as major labor union representation.” He adds, “Catholic Church Leadership from the Sisters of Mercy, the Jesuit order, the government-funded Catholic Charities and Catholic Relief Services are also represented at CACG. Catholic academia has a strong presence.”
Indeed, the CACG advisory council includes figures from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), AFL-CIO, Catholic University of America, Georgetown University, and Boston College.
In addition to health care reform, other big issues for CACG are “immigration reform” and “worker justice.” The latter links to a group promoting a bill, the Employee Free Choice Act, which would make it easier for unions to gain members.
The SEIU representative on the CACG board is Tom Chabolla, who serves as assistant to SEIU President Andy Stern. Before joining SEIU, he was associate director of programs for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD), the agency of the Bishops that funded ACORN to the tune of $7.3 million over the last decade. Funding of ACORN-but not of groups like Gamaliel-has been suspended by the Bishops.
Gamaliel says on its website that “Barack H. Obama, former Gamaliel organizer, is the 44th president of the United States,” and that this makes the organizing community proud. It also has a story about Obama friend and White House adviser Valerie Jarrett speaking to a Gamaliel event in Washington, D.C. of 2,500 activists. Jarrett is the official who said that “we” had recruited communist Van Jones to the White House. Another speaker was Melody Barnes, Obama’s Director of the Domestic Policy Council.
Before coming to the White House, Barnes was the executive vice president for Policy at the Soros-funded Center for American Progress (CAP). Van Jones also worked at CAP before going to the White House. CAP CEO and President John Podesta, who served as President Clinton’s chief of staff, is a major “progressive Catholic” and member of the ACORN advisory council, and served as a professor at Georgetown University.
Interestingly, Tom Chabolla of the SEIU and formerly of the CCHD was on the dinner committee for the 33rd Annual Hubert H. Humphrey Civil Rights Award Dinner, which was held on May 7, 2009 in Washington, D.C. One of the award winners was none other than Van Jones.
On Saturday, November 21 and Sunday, November 22, Catholics across the country will be asked to support the CCHD with their financial offerings. Gamaliel is appealing for support, saying that it is “under attack from those with a partisan agenda to de-fund groups committed to organizing for social justice.” It says: “Many Gamaliel Foundation affiliates rely on funding from CCHD to serve their communities.”
But Gamaliel also relies on George Soros. His Open Society Institute provided $300,000 to the organization in 2008.

And by the way, it was only those employed in agriculture ( a massive sector back then) who were were overwhelmingly Nazi. In this connection, one might take note of the fact that it is currently the education system that is perhaps the greatest enforcer of intellectual conformity in the West. This system, as John Taylor Gatto points out, was originally based on a Prussian model. Enforcing conformity is essential to any technological civilization, since the randomness that goes hand in hand with individualism makes for unpredictable results. This means that technological civilization is ultimately irreconcilable with the existence of individualism and human freedom.

(At knoxnews.com where I post, posts with links to WN sites are usually removed, and readers assume that everything on such sites is made up anyway. Highly dubious, except where the “technological civilization” in question must be tightly regimented for the lopsided benefit of self-entitled scoundrels (royals, nobles, aristocrats, and plutocrats) wielding undeserved authority over others.
In fact, the ideal technological civilization, as more recently and responsibly conceived, would allow human beings to freely engage in self-determined study, invention, and adventure while delegating most of the brute labor to increasingly efficient machines and robotic factories running on increasingly clean and sustainable technologies. Everything would run smoothly provided that rapacious banksters were eliminated, megalomaniacs and destructive psychopaths were recognized and contained, and breeding were sanely and eugenically regulated according to the principles of an enlightened universal ideology respected by various localized human populations within their own territories and racial and cultural milieux.
To falsify this glowing prospect, more than mere pessimism and historical induction would be required. But of course, doomsayers have nothing more on which to base their arguments.
That the essence of technological civilization is control is very hard to dispute. To use Someday’s example, how would the production of automobiles go if every worker on the assembly line expressed his freedom and individuality by improvising, putting on parts according to whim, or not putting them on at all? Clearly, not very well. On an assembly line, the more factors that are brought under control, the better the end result. Enforced conformity in this sort of environment is absolutely necessary, and only conformist personalities can do well in it.
Now Bub likely concedes this point but says that in an “ideal” (i.e., as opposed to our current reality) technological civilization the boring drudgework could be delegated to robots, leaving all the fun stuff – self-directed study, invention, and adventure – to humans. Robots would be more efficient anyway, he says, especially if they were produced using clean and sustainable technologies. In other words, he conceives of a society consisting only of those who in present society constitute a tiny elite, the drudgework now performed by the mass of mankind having been made superfluous by technological advances. It’s unclear what happens to these mass men. If the elites are sufficiently ruthless, perhaps they are simply exterminated, scrapped as so much obsolete production equipment. A kinder elite may simply let the great mass of average, unexceptional humans die out through selective breeding. In any case, they won’t be needed, and it would appear that such an “ideal” technological civilization would require very much fewer people than we have now, perhaps as little as only a few thousand. Does that sound like a utopia? Perhaps it would be, at least for those who made the cut. But what of this random fun stuff that these elites will then be able to devote themselves exclusively to, once they’ve gotten rid of all the useless eaters? It’s hard to speculate about something so far removed from our present circumstances, but we can already see that in such a future citizens can’t be allowed to do just anything they want. If they were, the powerful techniques that would presumably be at their disposal, such as nanotechnology or genetic engineering, could easily cause irreparable damage to the systems of production that provided all that bounty, possibly destroy what remained of humanity, or even wipe out all life on Earth. This might happen either accidentally, or as a malicious act. To prevent disaster, even these surviving elites would need to be tightly controlled. The controls could only be effective if they were virtually totalitarian. Where any space was left for freedom or innovation, an element of randomness would remain and the outcome – the fate of humanity – would be uncertain. I can only speak for myself, but this vision of a tiny remnant of humanity living in virtual lockdown is not something I find very appealing.

Isn’t the assembly line an American invention? Are Euro-Americans “collectivists”, following Someday’s train of thought?
Of course Beck plays up to Jews, Blacks, Ghandi and MLK. So does every other commentator out there. When judging the cultural impact of a TV personality I think you have to see how they differ from all the others, not how they are the same. So Beck’s pro-Israeli stance is nothing unusual or interesting. He is not creating a mob of philo-Semitic drones (at least no more than already existed).
What is interesting about Beck is his description of a powerful Jewish figure using his wealth to undermine the US. That is somewhat new, although O’reilly has taken on Soros in the past in a milder manner. What’s important is a new way of looking at how very rich Jews influence our culture.
I get the impression that some White advocates want an overnight revolution in thinking about race in America. You can’t expect people to suddenly wake up and chant pro-White sentiments one morning. The groundwork has to be laid and that takes some time and then a change can seemingly happen “overnight”.
I doubt Beck truly believes that Jews represent some threat to the West, but even if he did, he couldn’t come out and state it. If he did, he would be off the air immediately. What someone like him can do is “nudge” the public in a new direction.

It looks like very collectivist societies often have very low levels of technology, for example, Native Americans. In fact, all low-tech hunter-gather tribes have a complete lack of privacy and individuality. The movement away from tribal life towards more individuality was generally accompanied by greater scientific and technological development. Which caused which? Maybe they both encouraged each other.
And clearly the US had a far more technological society than the USSR which was massively more collectivist. It wasn’t just new inventions that the US excelled in but the “routine” production of goods and services.
We also need to distinguish political and economic freedom (and individualism) from some kind of flashy ghetto level “individualism”. It is true for example that most Latinos would fail to “conform” as well to the demands of a factory job than say a German. But is this really conformity? Or is it really an issue of self-control? The German is more likely to understand what is in his long-term individual self interest.

Life on a more primitive technological level inherently contains much more privacy, individuality, and freedom, because less powerful technologies require less control. In the news right now, for example, is the story about the American TSA having been given the legal authority to search the bodies of all passengers boarding a flight, including palpating the breast and genital area of females. In other words, for security’s sake White men must stand aside and permit surly, low-rent negroes and latrinos to publicly fondle and grope their wives and daughters. Even toddlers aren’t exempt. But note, these measures are necessary because the technology of explosives has advanced to the point where only a small amount of C4, Semtex, RDX, or other similar compound is needed to blow a plane from the sky. Such a regimen will probably follow the first time a plane goes down due to explosives smuggled on board in whatever fashion. What choice will they have, really? None at all. So much for freedom.

But that rather proves that individualism is a result of British ancestry because those who invented the system were not necessarily the best suited to working in it. Germans have managed to keep their car industry going unlike Britain and the US, and the Japanese have designers and engineers but few real inventions. Yet they have a very successful car industry. Germany’s outstanding manufacturing success is due to them being much more individualist than the Japs – and hence able to invent – but I think they’re a bit more collectivist than Britain.

Maybe, but that probability exists right now and has existed for some time. In a tribal setting, almost all areas of life are totally regulated. An Apache did not have much choice in the kind of clothing he wore, the religion he believed in, the work he performed or even who he married. These things were under collective tribal control. You must realize that. How much freedom speech exists in a tribe? How is criticism of the tribal leader treated? Usually not well.
Among the Pilgrims, more advanced than tribes but less technological than our age by a long shot, life was also regulated in an almost totalitarian manner, with people being sentenced to the stockade for failure to perform religious duties.
Now, of course technology allows a person or a state to exert more control in a sense because of it’s greater reach, but it doesn’t necessitate it in the manner you assert. It’s true that an old European King couldn’t order someone’s home bugged, so there is a potential for more invasion due to the technology, but again it doesn’t necessitate it.

As I said, those who can’t perceive that the entire trend of technological civilization is toward ever more increasing control, and less and less individuality, privacy, and freedom, are out of contact with reality. To use the TSA example I cite above, sure it’s true that in some sense these invasions of privacy aren’t “necessitated”. Instead, the government could simply allow a certain number of planes to be blown from the sky each year by terrorists smuggling explosives on board. But the reality is, given the way the American people and their institutions are constituted, that’s unlikely to happen. My experience arguing this question with you and others on this forum and elsewhere leads me to suspect that you are a libertarian of some sort, and you fondly imagine that all of these modern, technologically-driven intrusions can be rolled back, and the America of 1776 or so can anachronistically be restored. But this is a fundamental failure to understand the issue. The institutions and attitudes of the American people in 1776 were intimately connected to the available technology of that time. As Gregory Clark seems to have apprehended, the technological environment itself shapes the genetics of the people and dictates to them, in a complex interaction, what are the limits of the possible, and for our purposes here, what sort of “privacy”, “individuality”, and “freedom” are going to be allowed. Given continued technological “progress”, it’s clear that these concepts will eventually be rendered essentially meaningless. Of course, they also will never be formally abolished; they’re too psychologically important for that. For the foreseeable future, there will always be something, however pathetic, people will call “freedom”, “privacy”, and “individuality”, and they will claim to have them, but they will bear faint resemblance to what the Founding Fathers meant by those terms or even what we mean by them today.

No, that fact is not appreciated at all, at least in relation to technology. It is barely even acknowledged. But once it is fully understood that technological development shapes human genetics and, from its own internal logic, effectively compels certain courses of action while ruling out others, then certain consequences follow. To be sure, someone living 3,000 years ago didn’t have the ability to drive coast to coast in a convertible, or (for that matter) listen to the radio, or watch television. Nor did he have the ability to come onto a forum like this one. He only had the freedom that nature provided him, and that is precisely what is constantly eroded by the progress of technique. If you want the culture of 1776, then you must restore the technological context of 1776. Similarly, if you want the culture of ancient Rome or ancient Greece, then you must restore their own repective technological contexts. Just saw Jon Stewart (Leibowitz) attempt a take down of Glen Beck;s attack on Soros. The Founding Fathers certainly thought that in order to restrain government, the people needed to have access to effective weapons. That’s what the Second Amendment is all about. Those “futile fantasists” may have calculated carefully, but there was one variable they left out: technological advance, something that has nullified all their careful work. The effect of technological advance has been to make slaves of everyone, because a slave is someone who can’t revolt; who has no choice, on penalty of death, but to accept what his master decides. I’m talking, of course, about the rural US, and specifically farmers and ranchers. They aren’t particularly respectful of government authority, and in fact tend to hold it in contempt. The vast majority like their guns, own many, and know how to use them. Many are accomplished deer and coyote hunters, and thus better and faster shots than military marksmen.
Many of them are already willing to shoot trespassers on site; they post signs to that effect on their fences. If they suspect that said trespassers are there to arrest them or their families or interfere with their right to make a living on land they own free and clear, they’ll be all the more willing to shoot. They regularly ignore bureaucratic threats, often tearing up census and NAIS forms they receive in the mail and using the scraps to light their wood stoves; they pay their taxes, and that’s about it. And above all, they don’t care about you or your low opinion of their capabilities.
