The Latest Elite Cover Up in Britain Says So Much About the “Yookay’s” Collapse Into Third World Chaos

October 14, 2026/0 Comments/in Featured Articles/by Edward Dutton

It is not often that a news story, specifically in the way it is reported, encapsulates the absolute state of a nation. Britain, only a century ago, was the world’s dominant country. Its empire spanned a quarter of the globe and it was widely admired for innovating the modern world via the Industrial Revolution; the home of free speech, democracy, and law and order. Only a century later, it has degenerated into a corrupt, legally arbitrary, judicially chaotic, incompetent state. This is no better demonstrated than by the case of Dr Lola Salem and the reporting surrounding her.

On 2nd October, it was reported in the Daily Mail that former cabinet minister Michael Gove had split from his French girlfriend of two years Dr Lola Salem, who is 26 years younger than him, an age-difference which had caused much discussion for obvious reasons. According to Tatler Magazine, Lord Gove had moved in with Dr Salem and her young daughter, living in a flat in Earl’s Court. He had now moved out.

Then on Saturday 10th October, it was reported in the Daily Mail, GB News and the Daily Telegraph, that 33-year-old Dr Lola Salem, a musicologist and lecturer in French at Oxford University, had pleaded not guilty to charges of possessing 4 indecent images of minors, 3 of them involving sexual activity of a non-penetrative nature. According to the Daily Mail,

Salem has been charged with having in her possession between May 19, 2021 and February 13, 2023 three category B indecent images of children, which is the second most serious type.

She is also accused of having a less serious category C indecent image of a child between April 6, 2021 and February 13, 2023.

It was further reported that Dr Salem had pleaded “Not Guilty” at the Crown Court in July. At this point, Oriel College, Oxford had suspended her and, it was noted, St Catherine’s and Wadham colleges had barred her from teaching. Her trial was set for March 2028, something which, in itself, highlights the collapse of British institutions and organisation, due to factors such as declining intelligence. How can it possibly be acceptable for a person who is presumed innocent to have to wait such a long time to be able to clear her name? Also why did the media taken so long to report the case? Was it – as online leftists speculate – to give Lord Gove time to break up with Dr Salem and move out?

However, the next day, Sunday 11th October, all of these reports had dramatically disappeared from newspaper websites. Naturally, this precipitated a Streisand Effect on Twitter. Everybody of a political bent started discussing it and it led to wild speculation about Michael Gove and about whether he’d used his influence to have a reporting injunction imposed or that he had simply leant on his newspaper friends. Gloating leftists labelled Dr Salem a “nonce” and a “paedophile” and began tarring her friends, and magazines for which she’d written, by association. They also wondered why Cambridge University’s DEI, Black fantasist professor Jason Arday had been subjected to such media scrutiny while a well-connected “Jew” and “Zionist” from Oxford University was being “protected.”

Dr Lola Salem

At the same time, articles by Dr Salem in The Spectator, which is edited by Lord Gove, were deleted, as was her section on the Oriel College, Oxford, website. In other words, she was, dishonestly and pusillanimously, “memory-holed.” Also on Sunday, the Unity News Network, which reported the coverage on Twitter, were contacted by Dr Salem to be informed that they must take down their coverage due to a court injunction, as the other newspapers had. They were directed to her solicitor, a leading lawyer in reputation management. Unity News Network asked for a copy of the injunction and never heard back.

Then, on Monday 11th October, the case was reported by LBC News, though this was removed some hours later. In the meantime it was reported by the BBC, The National (a Scottish newspaper) and the Oxford Mail. Then, on 13th October, the case was reported again by the Daily Mail, though this time in much greater detail. They stated that Dr Salem had been charged in May and gone before magistrates in June. There her co-defendant, one Henry Hopwood-Phillips, 39, a consultant on Chinese politics, had pleaded guilty to taking and distributing indecent photographs of a child. He was given a suspended sentence of 15 months in jail and put on the sex offenders register for life.

It was observed that both Mr Hopwood-Phillips and Dr Salem had regularly written for a conservative magazine called The Critic. It was not reported that they had co-authored a piece there and that this man had once run a company using Dr Salem’s university address. According to an interview, this colourful fellow was thrown out the marines accused of fighting for which he had faced being jailed and was a Church of England ordinand who then converted to Russian Orthodoxy.

Dr Salem pleaded not guilty — that these unsolicited images were sent to her and that she reported them to the police. I telephoned Oxford Crown Court on 14th October and they confirmed that there were no reporting restrictions on the case whatsoever and there never had been, as it occurred in open court. The Daily Mail also wrongly reported that Salem was now barred from teaching at two Oxford colleges when, in fact, her contract had ended.

This whole debacle speaks volumes about the state of the “Yookay.” Firstly, in that there was no reporting restriction, newspapers either took down their coverage as a favour, were pressured to do so, or did so due to having been told something that wasn’t true or that was misleading. If it was the latter, then they panicked and didn’t bother to check their legal rights. In other words, Britain’s leading newspapers are run by people who are emotional, incompetent and ignorant, underscored by having to correct the false assertion about being barred from teaching. It speaks volumes that it was, initially, only a tiny dissident news network that refused to delete its article.

The mainstream media’s behaviour worsened a situation in which, secondly, the British are very strongly polarised and there is deep distrust of the ruling class, especially in the wake of the lies told during Covid. Sensible members of the ruling class would bend over backwards to ensure that there wasn’t even the whiff of a cover-up, but they are not sensible.

Thirdly, in memory-holing Salem. leading institutions, such as The Spectator and Oriel College, reveal themselves to be run by dishonest, impulsive cowards.

Fourthly, the debacle highlights something I noted in my book Borderline Genius/ Borderline Insane which is that the elite tend to combine high intelligence with Dark Triad, or anti-social and mentally unstable, traits and it is these which explained how they enter and remain part of the elite.

Finally, the fact that Salem’s case will take so long to reach trial, with her presumably being unable to work in the interim, underscores the extent of the UK’s decline from the nation that once dominated the globe. It was the first country to industrialise, industrialisation causes dysgenics via inoculations and improved medicine, and then compounds the problem by taking in masses of low-IQ immigrants from the Third World. So I suppose we should not be surprised that this farce has occurred.

Reading between the lines, and understanding Dark Triad people and who end up in their orbit as I explore in Borderline Genius/ Borderline Insane, it seems fairly obvious what has happened here. But the case is on-going so English Law precludes me from expressing an opinion.
