Greg Johnson on the election: Yes, “White Nationalists” Tanked the Republicans
The blue tsunami was not, however, a repudiation of Trump’s signature issues: closed borders, mass deportations, an America-First foreign policy, rolling back anti-whiteness, bringing back American industry, accountability for the Epstein cabal, etc. These are the reasons that White Nationalists like me voted for Donald Trump. I am pleased to see that all these issues continue to be strengths for the Republicans.

The blue tsunami in the US midterms was not an endorsement of the Democrats. The people who voted for the Democrats voted for them in 2024 as well, but the Democrats did not sweep to power then.
The Democrats alone did not have the power to do this. They were placed in power by people who had previously voted for Donald Trump but who decided either to stay home or vote Democrat in protest.
Republicans breathed a sigh of relief when they saw white men standing in line en masse outside of polling stations in 2024. But exit polls for the midterms show that young white men, among many other cohorts who propelled Trump to victory two years ago, have swung back to the Democrats. And that’s not even accounting for those who stayed home out of apathy or disgust.
This election was the Republicans’ to lose, and they were dumb enough to lose it.
Thus the blue tsunami was a vote of no-confidence in Donald Trump. But, since Trump was not up for re-election this year, the voters took it out on the Republicans.
In fact, NBC exit polls show that the Republican’s immigration policy, while lukewarm, was one of only a few issues that they were more popular with voters for than Democrats at plus 4%.
Trump was not repudiated because he kept his promises. He was repudiated because he broke them. Trump’s signature issues were not rejected. Trump himself was rejected, for failing to follow through on them.
Trump’s greatest betrayal was the Iran War, which everybody knows was caused by Jewish control of the American political establishment. NBC exit polls show that 74% of voters saw the Iran War as a “crucial or major” factor in how they voted, and Democrats captured 63% of those voters. The Iran War was caused by Israel Firsters, not America Firsters.
A particularly disheartening betrayal was Trump’s decision to focus on maintaining Boomers’ overvalued houses and stocks rather than making life more affordable for young people.
A less important betrayal was his about face on the Epstein files.
Trump kept some of his promises on immigration. But many people remember only his waffling and retreats.
The only instance in which keeping a promise hurt Trump is his tariffs. NBC exit polls show that 65% of voters think Trump’s policies in general made the economy worse, and 65% also that his tariff policy had hurt the economy. But the problem was not the principle of protectionism but Trump’s whimsical and chaotic implementation. In any case, it was a minor issue in the election.
Real MAGA has not been repudiated. Real MAGA has not even been tried (yet).
Republican Israel Firsters like James Lindsay, Rod Dreher, and Erick Erickson are claiming that White Nationalists like me and Nick Fuentes are responsible for tanking the Republicans.
I’m willing to take that rap.
Yes, we “White Nationalists” had the power to tank the Republicans.
But how? According to the cucks, the mere presence of racists and anti-Semites in the Republican coalition repulsed normal Republican voters, who stayed at home in droves or even switched parties.
This is a stupid argument on the face of it.
White Nationalists were no bigger a presence in the 2026 midterms than we were in the 2024 general elections, in which Trump and the Republicans did well.
Moreover, in 2024, most of us openly supported Trump, whereas in 2026, most of us were off the Trump train. So why would we be more toxic to the Republicans when we weren’t supporting them?
If White Nationalists harmed the Republicans in 2026 but not in 2024, it wasn’t because of our mere presence, which was the same. It must have been because we did something different.
What was the biggest difference? Obviously, it was our opposition to Trump. But we didn’t oppose Trump because of his America-First agenda. America First is why we voted for him in the first place. Instead, we opposed Trump for breaking his promises, primarily for putting Israel First.
If the problem in 2026 is merely our toxic presence, then we would expect to see conventional Boomer Republicans staying home in droves. But that didn’t happen. Indeed, Boomers voted more for Republicans in the midterms. Boomer support for the Republicans increased from plus 1 percentile point in 2024 to plus 3-4 percentile points in 2026.
If the problem is our vocal opposition to Trump, then we would expect to see young white men—who are the most White Nationalist-adjacent part of the electorate—staying home in droves, or even crossing party lines out of spite. This is exactly what we saw. Trump won young white men by 28 percentile points in 2024, but Democrats won them by 17 points in the midterms.
White Nationalists tanked the Republicans because our message—that Trump betrayed America First for Israel First—is obviously true and resonated with many former Trump voters. James Lindsay basically acknowledges this truth:
Iran wouldn’t have pulled Trump down almost at all if the whole Woke Right [i.e., white identitarian] media ecosystem didn’t countersignal him and monetize manufactured rage at him literally the whole time. The tariffs probably would have hurt him anyway, but turning people against him over the war did it.
This is why the cucks’ preferred solution to the White Nationalist problem is a combination of gate-keeping, purges, and censorship. They can’t compete with our message, so they want to shut us down.

“But Greg, maybe Lindsay and Co. are merely scapegoating White Nationalists because they are tired of losing arguments online and want the conservative establishment and its donors to protect them from competition. Is there any statistical evidence that White Nationalists actually influenced the election? Surely you don’t want to take a victory lap based on the credibility of clowns like Lindsay and Dreher.”
Actually, given the large audiences that Lindsay and Dreher enjoy, I am quite happy to take their claims at face value and feed them back to them, because it magnifies our political influence.
But in the long term, yes, their claims must be based on objective evidence, which David Zsutty will be assembling and analyzing in the coming days.
The emergence of a white identitarian bloc that is willing to sit out elections or vote Democrat to punish Republicans is absolutely necessary if white identity politics is to become a force to be reckoned with. Now we need the numbers to reckon with.
My prediction, however, is that no matter what is true, the political establishment will claim that White Nationalists had no influence on the election, but instead the Republicans were tanked by young white men staying home or switching parties, young white men who voted for Trump for the same reasons White Nationalists did and stayed home for the same reasons White Nationalists did. But just because they walk and talk and vote like White Nationalists, that’s no evidence that they are actual White Nationalists.
D. Vance’s candid X post on why the Republicans lost
Personally, I am delighted with the drubbing the Republicans have received. Given that a blue wave was inevitable, worse is better, because the Republicans are stupid, so they will only learn from suffering, and they are cowardly, so they will only do the “brave” thing if they fear the alternative even more. It is better this happen now rather than in 2028 when the White House is up for grabs as well.
For me, the ideal outcome is that Trump is removed from office. That would give Vance two years to rebuild Trump’s electoral coalition and focus on ending the war, restoring the economy, and tackling remigration and anti-whiteness.
If the last two years of Trump have taught us anything, however, it is that we can’t put our trust in the Republicans. Instead, we must continue to build up our movement. Right now, white identitarians don’t have the power to implement our policies. But we have the power to destroy Republicans careers and put the Left into power.
Obviously, we want our movement to grow, so we can actually implement our policies. But once the Left is back in power, that will get harder. The Left will be out for blood—and so will resentful loser Republicans like Lindsay and Dreher. Thus we need to brace ourselves for increased censorship and deplatforming. Whether it is Trump or Vance in the White House, we have two years to prepare.
Elon Musk might prove to be an ally in this.
Musk spent nearly half a billion dollars on the midterms. Obviously, he’s terrified at the prospect of a full Leftist sweep in 2028. On October 30, he posted:

He can begin by establishing complete freedom of speech on X. I want my account back, for starters, and I want to know the names of the people who blacklisted me.
Then Elon needs to put a few hundred million into our cause. The Republicans can’t win without us, so it would be better than throwing away another half-billion dollars on losers.
