ADL Acknowledges Demographics Matter

The Anti-Defamation League, the nation’s leading Jewish advocacy organization, has long labeled anyone who laments the changing demographics in America as a racist or White supremacist, the msot recent case being Pat Buchanan who was fired from MSNBC for expressing these views. In regards to his recent book The Suicide of a Superpower, the ADL states that “Buchanan laments that the United States is becoming an increasingly diverse country, that minorities will soon outnumber white Americans and that the country “is disintegrating, ethnically, culturally, morally, politically.” In their main article titled “Pat Buchanan: Unrepentent Bigot,” they say that Buchanan decries not only the disintegration of white America due to the influx of immigrants, particularly Latinos, but also the destruction of Europe due to immigrants from South Asia, the Middle East, Africa and the Caribbean.”

Now the ADL is finally adknowledging that demograohics do matter. The ADL is denouncing Peter Beinart who is a Jewish critic of Israel and American Jewish organizations like the ADL. In their article “Peter Beinart: is Right, but for the wrong reasons” they denounce him for advocating a One State Solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, stating that

if Israel were to hold on to all the territory, the demographic challenge would emerge in full force. Even if one takes seriously those who argue that the number of Palestinians living in the West Bank has been exaggerated (and most Israeli demographers disagree with that assessment), the ratio of Jews to Arabs in one-state would be near the 50 percent mark and would make the concept of a Jewish and democratic state, the hallmark of Israel through its history, a practical impossibility. A truly Jewish state can exist, as it does now, only with an overwhelming Jewish majority.

The ADL is right in the sense that under a One State Solution Israel will cease to be a Jewish State. But isn’t about time they take the same stance for the United States and Europe?

Paul Gottfried on Viktor Orban and Hungarian Nationalism

Did readers see the stunning admissions made by Jewish professor Paul Gottfried in a recent VDARE essay?  Weekly Counter-Currents writer Andrew Hamilton kindly drew my attention to it this week.

Gottfried is of Hungarian Jewish origin and speaks quite candidly about events there past and present. His article, Viktor Orban And The National Question In Hungary, tells a familiar story. Viktor Orban is the current prime minister of Hungary, and like many other citizens of formerly Communist countries in Eastern Europe, he does not buy into the guilt-inducing stories about World War II, nor does he accept the kind of multiculturalism now ravaging Western Europe and the Anglosphere.

Because he is a nationalist, and because Hungarians are White, this has excited the usual suspects — and Gottfried names them:

Hungarian artists and writers, and most notably Jewish ones, easily made their peace with the Soviets and their agents. It is not surprising that a very intelligent Hungarian Jewish Marxist of my acquaintance, Agnes Heller, has been livid with rage against the “Victator,” as Orban is now contemptuously called by his opponents.

One Green member of the European Parliament in particular, the famous lifetime leftist Daniel Cohn-Bendit, flies into rage when Orban’s name is mentioned. Describing the Hungarian head of state as an “authoritarian lunatic” may be the nicest thing that Cohn-Bendit has said about him.

Cohn-Bendit’s anger is spreading. As the Austrian member of the European Parliament Andreas Mölzer notes in Junge Freiheit, every day the European Union is looking for new measures by which to “quarantine” what it regards as the incipiently fascist regime in Budapest. Read more

Mark Leibler: An exemplar of Jewish hypocrisy and self-deception

Finding examples of Jewish hypocrisy and double standards about ethnic interests is not exactly big news (see Jewish attitudes in Israel versus the Diaspora). The entire Jewish political spectrum in the Diaspora in the West energetically pursues policies intended to displace White people and their culture, while at the same time promoting the interests of Israel as an ethnostate.  There are differences in emphasis of course. The neocons are mainly focused on heavy-handed, overt promotion of Israel and less strident about White displacement. They sometimes  get off message on immigration when there are larger fish to fry. As Peter Brimelow wrote about Bill Kristol, “Kristol will return to immigration enthusiasm once he has helped persuade Bush to attack Iran.” New president. Same message.

On the other hand, the mainstream Jewish community (more than 80% of Jews voted for Obama) is more openly dedicated to White displacement and sometimes engages in a bit of hand-wringing on some of Israel’s more egregious bouts of aggression  and racialism while nevertheless managing not to rock to the boat when it comes to total fealty of the US to the religious and ethnonationalist right that dominates Israeli politics.

Despite their banality, egregious examples of hypocrisy and double standards are nevertheless worth commenting on. And in the case of Mark Leibler,  it shows that these patterns are not confined to the US. (Here’s an article pointing out the same pattern in Australian MP Michael Danby.)  Read more

Jewish Double Standards and Hypocrisy Department: Reform Jews Get on the Far Right Bandwagon

But remain staunchly on the left in the U.S.  Mondoweiss reports on a major conference of the Union for Reform Judaism:

But Natan Sharansky? Sharansky is a rightwing Israeli leader who chairs One Jerusalem, which has worked to kill the two-state solution, supposedly precious to liberal Jews. And Bill Kristol– WTF! Kristol is the neoconservative leader who pushed the Iraq war, writing that “Israel’s fight against terrorism is our fight.” Kristol has backed Israeli colonies through the West Bank.

This demonstrates the conservatism of even Reform Jews when it comes to Israel. Reform Jewish leader Eric Yoffie attacked Richard Goldstone months after the Gaza horror. Reform Jewish leader Rabbi David Saperstein criticized J Street for taking a fairly mild stand against settlements. And J Street has pulled back its criticisms of Israel because it has pitched its tent inside the Jewish community and the Jewish community is reactionary on the Israel question. So it follows that at a time when Israel is losing credibility around the world, Reform circles the wagons, and welcomes rightwingers.

So President Obama (another headliner guest at the conference) is sharing the floor far right Jewish ethnonationalists. Forgive me for being cynical when we hear the constant refrain that the reason that Jews are on the left is because of “Jewish values” of tolerance and social justice. This is just another example of a repeated theme here, that Jewish ethics is fundamentally about what is good for the Jews. The Jewish culture of the left in the U.S. is ethnic warfare against the traditional people and culture of America, while Jewish attitudes about Israel justify ethnic warfare against the Palestinians—including tolerance of ethnic cleansing and apartheid. The Mesira Mentality: Laws are Made to Be Broken

There’s another wrinkle in the Hasidic tax scam case (previously discussed here). The case involves wealthy Hasids giving millions of dollars in tax-deductible donations to a Jewish religious center and then getting almost all the money back after it was laundered through an international religious network. The LATimes reports that a rabbi, Moshe Zigelman, who went to jail for two years ago because he refused to testify against other Jews, is again threatened with jail if he does not testify (“U.S. threatens to send rabbi back to jail“).

This is another example of the Jewish law of  mesira which enjoins Jews not to testify against Jews: “‘No earthly sanction will ever make Rabbi Zigelman abandon his religious precepts,’ Michael Proctor, an attorney for Zigelman wrote in court papers.”

Mesira is thus alive and well in Orthodox communities—practiced, as in this case, by the leading figures of the community. The prosecution will argue that Jewish religious law is irrelevant to the laws of the United States—a blow for common sense. The article cites an expert in Jewish religious law who says that mesira does not apply in modern democratic societies, but “originates from a time of oppressive and brutal secular authorities.”

Whatever the disputes among religious authorities, the fact is that there are quite a few cases in the contemporary world among traditional Jews; as John Graham has noted, mesira is a likely reason why the Bernie Madoff fraud was not investigated properly given that the signs of fraud were so obvious.

It’s another indication of the effectiveness of ethnic networks with a strong ingroup/outgroup ethic. Prosecution will doubtless be difficult without Zigelman’s testimony. Read more

Political Violence, Part 2: Violence by the Right: The Media’s Timothy McVeigh Paradigm

Breivik, Goldstein, Amir, and McVeigh

In a sense, Anders Breivik’s killings were a form of vigilantism, as are almost all killings conducted outside the apparatus of the State. To illustrate my point, we go back to Weather Underground member, David Gilbert, talking about his decision to turn to violence:

Our movement had come about thinking we could shake the moral conscience of America….But painful experience had taught us that there was an entrenched power structure which profited from and systematically enforced oppression. We could not make a dent in the overwhelming social violence of the status quo without coming up against that power structure. (In Dan Berger, Outlaws of America, p. 44)

One could easily envision Breivik making the same exact justification for his decision to turn to killing. Both Breivik and Gilbert killed outside the mechanism of the State, but one is looked at as a sort of hero of the left and intellectual circles, while those same members would view Breivik as a monster beyond compare. This is helped by the media’s attempt to brand Breivik negatively while branding those Good Terrorists with positive qualities. Read more

Jewish Australian MP: Bring Israel’s African Immigrants to Australia

Michael Danby, a Jewish MP in the Australian Parliament, has “enthusiastically agreed” to the idea of bringing to Australia thousands of Africans who have illegally immigrated to Israel (“Danny Danon: Send African Immigrants to Australia“; Jerusalem Post). The idea originated with Danny Danon, a Likud MP well known for his far right views. (Here he is in the NYTimes advocating that Israel annex the West Bank.)  Being a good rightist, Danon thinks that the immigrants are a threat to the Jewish identity of Israel: “The arrival of thousands of Muslim infiltrators to Israeli territory is a clear threat to the state’s Jewish identity. … On the one hand, it treats the refugees and migrants in a humane way. On the other hand, it does not threaten Israel’s future and our goal to maintain a clear and solid Jewish majority.”

The implicit idea is that Australia, being a traditionally European society, has no identity at all except to abstract principles. So it’s not surprising that Danby wholeheartedly agrees with the plan. Being a good Jew in Australia means being an enthusiastic cheerleader for non-White immigration—long the policy of the organized Jewish community in Australia and throughout the Jewish Diaspora in the West.  Read more
