David Chappelle Is on Team TERF!

Apropos of Tobias Langdon’s terrific article on translunacy in the U.K., I thought it appropriate to briefly mention the controversy surrounding comedian David Chappelle in the U.S.

Of course, in general the same thing is happening in both countries. People who tell the truth on sex and gender are canceled. But it’s interesting that there are some exceptions. Black comedian David Chappelle seems to have survived a torrent of abuse for saying that sex is real:

“They canceled J.K. Rowling, my God. … Effectually she said gender was a fact, and then the trans community got mad as sh–, they started calling her a TERF.”

The comic then declared himself to be on “Team TERF” — trans-exclusionary radical feminists — prompting applause from the audience watching the show.

“I agree. … “I agree, man. Gender is a fact. You have to look at it from a woman’s perspective.”

And he’s rather unrepentant: ““F–k Twitter. F–k NBC News, ABC News, all these stupid ass networks. I’m not talking to them. I’m talking to you. This is real life.”

And not only that, he got off the reservation on Asians and (amazingly) Jews. Asians:

He starts by joking about how good he felt while being molested by a preacher as a child. Then he talks about watching videos of Black people beating up Asian people during the COVID-19 pandemic, while he was quarantining with an asymptomatic case of the virus. Chappelle, who is Black, likens the beatings to his body’s efforts to beat the virus  — effectively comparing Asian people to the coronavirus.

In my movie idea, we find out that these aliens are originally from earth — that they’re from an ancient civilization that achieved interstellar travel and left the earth thousands of years ago. Some other planet they go to, and things go terrible for them on the other planet, so they come back to earth, [and] decide that they want to claim the earth for their very own. It’s a pretty good plotline, huh? I call it “Space Jews.”
Jews taking over the world. Not a good idea for someone in show business to be pushing. And it got some predictable reactions, like this one:

So far, Netflix is standing by Chappelle. I suspect that he feels he has enough money—Netflix’s budget for “The Closer” was $24.1M and I very much doubt that his live-performance audience will desert him. Of course that raises the question of why other wealthy, famous people don’t get off the reservation. Very few do. So Chappelle definitely has balls.

Studying the JQ “on the pillow”

Growing up on a North German farm, I never met any Jews before I started studying classical piano at music conservatory. Two Ashkenazi students (male and female) from England were part of my class, and over the years, we interacted several times like students do, in a friendly, fun manner. I remember having accompanied a Jewish girlfriend at her Passover diet, eating a lot of matzah bread, fruits and vegetables. I was endlessly curious about life and people, like many young Whites are.

The never-ending brainwashing coming from German education, media, and politics infusing hereditary guilt into young German minds let me believe that I had to be particularly nice to Jews because we owed them something without being able to ever make it up to them. I still believed that the crimes committed by our ancestors were so unique and horrific, only allowing us to permanently beg for atonement that could never be obtained.

During my business studies in Berlin, I befriended a woman with a Jewish father. Her German mother had converted to Judaism, but she explained to me that Orthodox Jews would not accept her as properly Jewish as Judaism was passed from the mother’s side, through the blood. Given that pater semper incertus est—the father is always uncertain, only a Jew with a Jewish mother could be considered fully Jewish. I wondered already at the time how a child descending from five generations of marriages would look and feel like, if it started out with a Jewish mother and a Nordic father in the first generation, with the offspring continuing to marry Nordics in the subsequent four generations. Would the 3.125% of leftover Jewishness coming from their mother’s line still suffice for them to be considered as full Jews by the community? A question I still have to find the answer for today.

However, I clearly understood already at the time that Judaism was based on genetics and that religious dogma and ritual were mere ancillaries.

One evening, this half-Jewish acquaintance took me to a kiddush. We entered a big locked portal and joined a group of approximately 20 young Jews that had built up tables and chairs in the large courtyard, and dined on exotic food and sung songs in Hebrew language. They all spoke German perfectly, but I noticed that these young Jews had a second identity based on a culture that was neither German nor European. In fact, it was a culture that was completely alien to me. The looks of some who apparently did not approve of my presence are etched in my memory. I was clearly not one of them—my tall, Nordic physique invited them to ask where I was from. I felt like an intruder, which I actually was thanks to a half-Jewish girl being disloyal to her tribe by breaking the secret of this exclusive gathering. My thought was, would a full Jew have broken it?

On a Saturday/Shabbat, this adventurous young half-Jewess took me to a service at a synagogue. Men and women were seated separately, men in the basement, women on a large balcony behind.

Like at the kiddush the night before, seeing so many Jews in one place, I noticed a phenotype resemblance. Some looked a bit like Germans, but most had very distinct traits that were hardly to be found in German faces and morphology. I noticed a generally smaller body height, a relatively large head compared to the body, shorter extremities in ratio to the torso, slimmer shoulders, larger hips, big ears, wavy lips, a large sometimes hooked nose or just a long nose tip, fleshy nostrils, light skin but dark often curly hair including dark body hair on the hands of the men. Many men as well as women were chubby and not athletic looking. The men were all dressed in black with white shirts, sometimes wearing a large black hat, occasionally with side locks (payots).

There were also some dark or medium blondes, also with light eyes. Still, other typically Jewish features revealed hybridization without full belonging to the Europid, White Race.

During my childhood and until the end of my classical piano studies, I had spent over 12,000 hours putting black dots into music, making that abstract world my mental home. My musically trained mind captured all these details as raw data without being able to assess them.

However, it was obvious, some looked quite like us, the result of interbreeding, while some looked pretty foreign. A genetic study I discovered much later came to me as no surprise.

Many years later, after having met dozens of Jews in Paris, I started to connect some dots, the first one being that a noticeably distinct group which White Europeans are not allowed to criticize without risking public shaming must somehow dominate our societies. The eternal victim status gave Jews an incredibly effective moral superiority whilst we Germans had to deal with the fifth generation of eternal collective guilt which was passed on genetically, despite the fact that the legal system of the Federal Republic of Germany would not consider a serial killer’s son guilty at birth: A double standard hidden in plain sight.

My soul longed to be part of an appreciated group of people who would proudly sing their songs and declare their love for their people and country. Like many Germans, I was looking for a safe space of self-love to feel good about myself. In France, I enjoyed the amour propre of the French people as well as their flattery.

The love for classical music made me enter Jewish circles again, where Ashkenazi and Sephardi mingled. Luxurious Parisian apartments, intelligent conversations, eloquence, politeness, cultivated appearances, all this was agreeable. When I met my half-Jewish very European looking and comfortably wealthy ex-husband, I still thought that Jews from Europe and White Europeans were distinct groups that shared a big intersection of interests. There were too many similarities and common passions about culture and lifestyle to think otherwise. It took me years to understand that all this is nothing if the most important ingredient is missing: Tribal Loyalty.

To get to this point, I studied the (half-)Jewish mind “on the pillow” but also in social settings. Without going into details, my awakening climaxed at a dinner in December 2017. I had already been working for WhiteDate, secretly, because I felt that my spouse would not approve, so I let him believe that I continued to work on projects for clients.

A Sephardi friend of ours joined us for dinner, we had lots of wine and the conversation evolved into a disagreement between them and me about gun rights in the USA. I saw the right to bear guns as a necessity in an increasingly unsafe environment due to immigration. I expressed my sorrow about the farmer killings in South Africa by mentioning that the Boers were OUR people and Western governments should help arm them if not offer asylum.

What had I said? My reference to “OUR people” made my then-husband and our guest go into strong opposition. It was racist to say such a thing. My argument that the Afrikaners were of German and Dutch stock, which made me feel for their suffering was completely rejected. There was a common understanding between my half-Ashkenazi ex-husband and our Sephardi friend that little-German-me should not see myself as being part of a racially united global White Nation.

If Jews had been killed en masse (or even just one) by Blacks in South Africa, I am certain that both of my conversational opponents would have deplored it by stating full allegiance to the Jewish Nation worldwide. This double standard came to me like a shock. Not being for the same football team is one thing, but not being for the same tribe, people, race is quite another. They clearly did not care for the wellbeing of MY people, the White People, for whom I naturally felt allegiance to, wherever they lived. Even worse, they did not care that White people were being murdered because they were White. Nor did they care about the right of White people to defend themselves.

Needless to say, this was the beginning of the end for my marriage. Whatever had united my spouse and me was just not important enough anymore. Six months later I had left my luxurious international lifestyle behind, moved back to Germany and the divorce petition was announced.

Since then, my awakening has been refined by learning more about Jewish responsibilities in the horrific Ukrainian, Armenian, Bolshevik Russian, and Stalinist Russian genocides of Whites during the twentieth century alone. Some even add the 80 million dead Whites of WWI and II including the 1–1.5 million German prisoners of war, young beautiful German soldiers, cruelly left for months to rot alive and die slowly in the mud of the Rhine meadows fields without any shelter against rain and cold. Additionally, 12 million German civilians including many women and children were tortured, raped, killed, and starved to death after 1945.

I am also aware of the Mao genocide of 40 million Chinese equally, but feel distanced from this historical happening as I care for my people first. Let the Chinese mourn their own and free themselves from these satanic infiltrators. Whites cannot fight other races’ freedom wars whilst we are genetically vanishing under today’s anti-White governments and techno-medico-communism called Corona pandemic.

Last but not least, I have two messages to the so-called ‘good Jews’ among whom I count my former spouse: Even Jews who do not actively participate in the secret Jewish nepotism and anti-White actions must understand that their denial of other races to practice the racial in-group preference and loyalty they instinctively practice themselves will eventually provoke hatred of all peoples against them as a collective. One day, the Jewish nation will reap the fruits of its actions.

Canada’s Fake Election: A Referendum on Trudeau and Little Else

Last month Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau announced a long-anticipated federal election to be held on September 20th. He naively hoped to gain a majority, and thus get the power to enact any law, something he had been unable to do because his government is only backed by 155 MPs out of 337. If he is unableto get a majority, he has admitted that he will send Canadians back to the voting booth within 18 months.
Another factor motivating Trudeau’s decision to go to the polls is that most of the generous handouts linked to COVID-19 will end on September 30th, something the media has been shy about reporting. After that date, it will be high time to discuss the tab for those fiscal excesses, something that will almost definitely impact his shaky popularity. Tax hikes, after all, are a lot less popular than free handouts, so it’s best to hold the election while the party is still in swing, rather than on the morning after.

The thing is that polls – for what they are worth – show that his chances of getting a majority have suddenly dipped, and Trudeau could even be sitting in the opposition in a few days.

It is not that his opponents – Erin O’Toole from the Conservative Party and Jagmeet Singh from the far-left New Democratic Party – are very popular. It is simply that Trudeau has a negative record on every single issue.

Statistically, there should have been at least one good thing during his years in power, by mere luck or accident. But he has defied common mathematics, and has been able to provide an unanimously bad record in everything.

Even his environmental record has been labelled the worst of the G7 countries – behind even Trump’s – by the New Democratic Party leader. His bragging of a green government is nothing else than rubbish. In terms of economics, before the Pandemic, while the economy was soaring, he managed to create annual deficits ranging from 30 to 40 billion. The Pandemic simply allowed him to spend without counting, something the next Minister of Finance will realize was not the best way to manage the nation’s budget. As for foreign relationships, he has managed to bow down lower than it is humanly possible in front of China. He also managed to scuttle the few sectors that had not yet been sacrificed on the altar of free trade, like Quebec’s dairy industry.

But the worst is yet to come: in terms of demographics, he has continuously increased the quotas to reach a point where 400,000 newcomers enter the country each year, a number that amounts to 1% of the population. The very few who still deny the Great Replacement as a lunacy just show the world that illiteracy has not yet been eradicated in the Great White North.

Since the beginning of the campaign there have been some good debates on “critical race theory” or “systemic racism,” as it is also called. This was thanks to the leader of the separatist Bloc Québécois, the only political leader not to buy into the new establishment lunacy. There were also some interesting talks on Afghanistan, the economy, and the pandemics.

However, there is one topic that has not been discussed at all, and it is the most important one for the years to come: mass immigration.

Fake Opposition

Trudeau’s immigration policies are often discussed in daily conversations in Quebec, at the workplace, and in cafés. Most people agree that Trudeau’s policies in this matter are aimed at importing future electors. But the people who speak that way, the majority of Quebec’s blue collar workers, vote for what they consider to be the only alternative: the Conservative Party. Their reflection on Trudeau is indeed right, but where they end up being wrong is in their assumption that Conservatives have a different plan.

In fact the Conservative plan mentions no decrease in immigration levels.

Conservatives have never opposed mass immigration; they have simply managed to make it more socially accepted by fighting illegal immigration and immigration fraud, two statistically marginal aspects of the problem that will not stop, nor even slow down the Great Replacement of Euro-Canadians.

O’Toole’s goal is simply to replace Trudeau in the heart of newcomers.

As a matter of fact, it was Conservative Stephen Harper who set the previous record in term of admissions, quite an “achievement” when we remember that his government was labelled “anti-immigration” by the Canadian left, a claim so often repeated that many Canadians came to support the Conservative’s open gate policy while genuinely believing they had elected a nativist populist. Talk about fake opposition!

Going further back into history, the same thing happened with Liberal Pierre Elliott Trudeau and Conservative Brian Mulroney. While the first has passed into history as a staunch advocate of mass immigration, the quotas he set were actually really low; on the other hand, Mulroney, formerly viewed as someone working for the White masses, was the first to throw the gates wide open.

Today, thanks to the Left’s demonization of the Conservatives, we experience the same nonsense; people who want the demographic balance to remain the same, give their vote to a party that promises to do just the opposite. The power of the liberal media at its best!

Some who do see the contradiction will simply defend their vote with some baloney: Trudeau’s high quotas are maliciously motivated by his thirst for power, while O’Toole’s exactly identical policies are somehow economically justified. The fact that this latter explanation is not based on anything else than slogans emanating from the business sector and repeated ad nauseam by servile media is not taken into account.

No Real Choice

But the thing is, opponents to the Great Replacement are political orphans. True, Maxime Bernier has often denounced mass immigration since he broke from away from the Conservative Party in 2018 to found the Populist Party of Canada, but it has always been an electoral posture in order to capitalize on the discontented vote. Prior to his “coming out,” Bernier had actually been a staunch opponent of identitarian politics and had fought against anything remotely close to ethnonationalism. A quick view of his candidates will prove to anyone that Bernier is not a closet White nationalist as the antifas have depicted him.

However, his cynical use of the immigration issue is not the only reason he does not yet represent an alternative: even if he can get his old constituency back, the chances of his party having two MPs are next to nil. The only positive impact a vote for Bernier’s Populists could have is in stopping the Leftward shift in the Conservative Party. If the Conservative Party realizes that the departure of Right-leaning voters from its ranks could impact its electoral chances, it may come back to a slightly more populist approach on immigration.

Since the Canadian Alliance and the Progressive Conservative Party (PCP) merged in 2003 to create the present-day Conservative Party, the Party has constantly moved to the Center rather than the Right, trying to present itself as a “sensible alternative” to the Liberals. Although the populists from the Canadian Alliance represented a majority in the new party in 2003, they soon came to adopt policies to the Left of the former PCP. The term Cuckservative has thus come to fulfil all of its potential in Canada!

It is very hard to distinguish Conservative leader Erin O’Toole from the Liberals of yesteryear. His program, his speeches and the policies he promotes seem taken straight from the Liberal platform of Jean Chrétien, fifteen or twenty years ago. With Justin Trudeau going totally woke, the Center has shifted more and more to the Left, and, instead of pulling the other way, the Conservatives have just followed the move initiated by Trudeau.

All in all, the 2021 election is not a real election with real choices. It is simply a referendum on Justin Trudeau. No Canadian prime minister – with the notable exception of his father – has ever generated so much hatred. Recent anti-Trudeau demonstrations have forced him to cancel events in Ontario, and he was recently pelted with rocks in London. His electoral placards are systematically vandalized in many places around the country (see video). The hatred for Trudeau, which was thought to be a Quebec specialty, may become a unifying factor in Canada, from coast to coast.

The Roots of White Moralistic Aggression: Pursuing Utopian Causes Framed as Moral Issues

The Western world is in a crisis in large part because its culture from beginning to end is depicted as immoral in the elite media and throughout the educational system. It has affected a great many White people—people like those depicted in my compendium of White liberals rejoicing at the decline of people like themselves. As I noted,

As individualists, White people are particularly prone to forming moral communities (rather than kinship-based communities like the rest of the world) and to punishing people who dissent from their moral world view, even at substantial cost to themselves and even if they share many of the same characteristics as the people they are punishing, such being White. This is termed altruistic punishment by evolutionary psychologists and is a major theme of Individualism and the Western Liberal Tradition. Liberals therefore rejoice when Whites are punished for their racial attitudes.

To flesh out the theme that moral communities rather than kinship-based communities are fundamental to thinking about the West, I post a section from Chapter 6 of Individualism and the Western Liberal Tradition which provides some historical background. As noted in the section quoted below, “A critically important feature of Puritanism is the tendency to pursue utopian causes framed as moral issues.” In the nineteenth century, the main moral issue was slavery—Puritan-descended intellectuals were the main influence in developing the moral case against slavery. Now it is the charge of “systemic racism” whereby Whites, just by being White, are recipients of “White privilege.” Whites buy into a system that systematically disadvantages People of Color (ignoring the success of several non-White groups, such as Chinese-descended Americans).

Thus in my view, this moralistic fervor—a fervor that has often led to altruistic punishment of White people like themselves—has deep roots in the culture of the West, particularly the cultures of northwest Europe. In Individualism I argue that these tendencies are genetically based on the basis of historical patterns in family structure and genetic clines. However, my view is that the current culture of moralistic self-hatred is not an inevitable consequence of White tendencies toward moralistic utopianism and altruistic punishment: “With the rise of the Jewish intellectual and political movements, the descendants of the Puritans readily joined the chorus of moral condemnation of America. With their base in the Ivy League universities, Puritan-descended intellectuals dominated intellectual discourse in the United States until the rise of a Jewish elite beginning in the 1920s which accelerated after World War II and became dominant after 1965.”

There are, of course, other reasons besides feeling morally superior for buying into the culture of anti-White hate—most obviously that individuals who publicly dissent from that culture are likely to be punished with ostracism and loss of job; and there are rewards for White people who go along with it—there is a very prosperous diversity industry manned by people—many of the White—who get rich by participating. But as I note, “After the evil has been vanquished, the rhetoric dies down, and disillusionment may occur as people realize that evil has not, after all, been extirpated.” They’ve been trying to “close the gap” in performance with African-Americans for 50+ years now, but it never seems to go away; same for the crime. But by the time disillusionment sets in, it may be too late for White America.

In short, the Puritan Revolution meant the end of the Indo-European world and its Christian version: the king and aristocracy (“those who fought bellatores”), the Church (“those who prayed, oratores”), and the commoners (“those who worked, laboratores”).[1] It was thus the quintessential modern revolution—a fundamental break in the history of the West. It marked the beginning of the end of aristocratic individualism with its strong emphasis on hierarchy between social categories and the beginning of the rise of egalitarian individualism with its ideology of social leveling.

The revolution, although begun in England, was slow to reach its completion there, whereas in the United States, “as a consequence of the Civil War, the absolute hegemony of the leveling, acquisitive and utilitarian society pioneered by the Puritan Revolution was firmly entrenched.” The Civil War pitted “the Cavaliers of the Old South [who] recalled the highest ideals of European chivalry” against “the soulless materialism of Northern capitalism.”[2]

The new order was far more egalitarian than the older order. Congregations elected their ministers, who served at their pleasure.  Whereas war had been the province of the nobility, Cromwell’s New Model Army was based on citizen participation.

It was also profoundly spiritual and created enormous energy—energy that was eventually characterized far more by capitalist financial concerns than religious spirituality. “Possessive individualism” and “tasteful consumption” had come to define the highest expression of Anglo-Saxon character and culture. The government of England and other Anglo-Saxon areas became dominated by commercial and financial interests.

When the intellectuals of the new order looked at the English past, they did not see a social order of liberty and reciprocity. Rather, Whig historians saw the Middle Ages as oppressive, that people had no share in the government and the vast majority were the villeins, vassals, or bondsmen of their lords.[3]

In the United States, the Puritan revolution was carried to its extreme. Freed of the hereditary aristocracy and religion of England, during the Jacksonian era “the few remaining conservative influences in religion, politics, and law” were swept aside.[4] The result was an exultant radical individualism in which every person was to have direct, unmediated access to God. This radical individualism distrusted all manifestations of corporate power, including chartered private corporations. However, the corporations established by the heirs of Puritanism, referred to as WASPs (White Anglo-Saxon Protestants) in the following, eventually metastasized into monsters “incapable of preserving either the class boundaries of the bourgeoisie or the ethnic character of the Anglo-American nation as a whole.”[5] In the hands of recent and contemporary Anglo-Saxons, the modern business corporation is analogous to the “proposition nation” concept: merely a concatenation of contracts, with no ethnic character, although Fraser is quick to note that corporations dominated by other groups do not lose their ethnic character.

Fraser usefully divides U.S. history into four periods defined by three transformation: The Constitutional Republic dating from the American Revolution to the Civil War and based on political decentralization, liberty and egalitarianism; the Bourgeois Republic resulting from the victory of the North in the Civil War and lasting until Franklin Roosevelt, typified by the Fourteenth Amendment and a large increase in federal power; and the Managerial/Therapeutic leviathan since that period, characterized by an even greater concentration of power at the federal level, combined now with energetic attempts to change the attitudes of Americans in a liberal and eventually in an Anglophobic direction.

None of these eras was explicitly Anglo-Saxon Protestant: Even at the outset, “the Anglo-Saxon character of the Constitutional Republic was merely implicit.[6] The fourth, as yet unrealized, republic is slated to be the Transnational Republic where all traces of White domination have been erased and WASPs have become” a shrinking and despised minority.”[7]

The Puritan-energized egalitarian tendencies of the first period, the Constitutional Republic, eventually ended the aristocratic, Indo-European-derived social order of the Old South.

A natural social order dating from time out of mind had been leveled. The egalitarian sense that every free man must participate in labor now outlawed “invidious” social distinctions between those who worked, those who prayed, and those who fought. It also aggravated the growing split between the North and South. Both the celebration of work and the disparagement of idleness made “the South with its leisured aristocracy supported by slavery even more anomalous than it had been at the time of the Revolution.” Combined with the anti-institutional fervor of evangelical revivalism, the democratic ideology of free labor eventually lent its mass appeal to a multi-pronged crusade against Negro slavery. … The conquest and destruction of the Old South marked the second phase of the permanent American Revolution.[8]

The triumph of the North in the Civil War meant that the US was even further removed from its Indo-European roots than before.

The result of Lincoln’s victory was that limits on federal power “were swept aside by executive decree and military might. By crushing the southern states, Lincoln fatally weakened the federal principle; his arbitrary exercise of emergency powers laid the foundations for executive dictatorship whenever exceptional circumstances justify the suspension of constitutional liberties. The war was an exercise in constitutional duplicity; the ratification of the Fourteenth Amendment in 1868 was accomplished only by means of blatant fraud and military coercion. Nonetheless, once securely enshrined in the Constitution, the amendment provided both the Second [i.e., Bourgeois] Republic and the Third [i.e., Managerial/Therapeutic] Republic with their formal constitutional warrant. … By the standard of the First (Federal) Republic, the Fourteenth Amendment was unconstitutional. But, despite some initial resistance, the legal priesthood of the Republic soon elevated the amendment to the status of sacred writ.[9]

Nineteenth-Century Intellectual Trends

A critically important feature of Puritanism is the tendency to pursue utopian causes framed as moral issues—their susceptibility to utopian appeals to a “higher law” and the belief that the principal purpose of government is moral. New England was the most fertile ground for “the perfectability of man creed,” and the “father of a dozen ‘isms.’”[10] There was a tendency to paint political alternatives as starkly contrasting moral imperatives, with one side portrayed as evil incarnate—inspired by the devil. Puritan moral intensity can also be seen in their “profound personal piety”[11]—their intensity of commitment to live not only a holy life, but also a sober and industrious life.

Whereas in the Puritan settlements of Massachusetts the moral fervor was directed at keeping fellow Puritans in line, in the nineteenth century it was directed at the entire country. The moral fervor that had inspired Puritan preachers and magistrates to rigidly enforce laws on fornication, adultery, sleeping in church, or criticizing preachers was universalized and aimed at correcting the perceived ills of capitalism and slavery.

Puritans waged holy war on behalf of moral righteousness even against their own cousins—quite possibly a form of altruistic punishment as discussed in Chapter 3. Whatever the political and economic complexities that led to the Civil War, it was the Yankee moral condemnation of slavery that inspired and justified the massive carnage of closely related Anglo-Americans on behalf of slaves from Africa. Militarily, the war with the Confederacy was the greatest sacrifice in lives and property ever made by Americans.[12] Puritan moral fervor and punitiveness are also evident in the call of the Congregationalist minister at Henry Ward Beecher’s Old Plymouth Church in New York during World War II for “exterminating the German people … the sterilization of 10,000,000 German soldiers and the segregation of the woman.”[13]

It is interesting that the moral fervor the Puritans directed at ingroup and outgroup members strongly resembles that of the Old Testament prophets who railed against Jews who departed from God’s law, and against the uncleanness or even the inhumanity of non-Jews. Indeed, it has often been noted that the Puritans saw themselves as the true chosen people of the Bible. In the words of Samuel Wakeman, a prominent seventeenth-century Puritan preacher: “Jerusalem was, New England is; they were, you are God’s own, God’s covenant people; put but New England’s name instead of Jerusalem.”[14] “They had left Europe which was their ‘Egypt,’ their place of enslavement, and had gone out into the wilderness on a messianic journey, to found the New Jerusalem.”[15]

Whereas Puritanism as a group evolutionary strategy crumbled when the Puritans lost control of Massachusetts, Diaspora Jews have been able to maintain their group integrity even without control over a specific territory for well over 2,000 years and even during periods when they adopted crypsis to avoid persecution. This attests to the greater ethnocentrism of Jews. But, although relatively less ethnocentric, the Puritans were certainly not lacking in moralistic aggression toward outgroups, even when the outgroup was their close relatives in the Confederacy. And while the Puritans were easily swayed by moral critiques of White America, Jews, because of their stronger sense of ingroup identity, have been remarkably resistant to moralistic critiques of Judaism.[16]

With the rise of the Jewish intellectual and political movements, the descendants of the Puritans readily joined the chorus of moral condemnation of America. With their base in the Ivy League universities, Puritan-descended intellectuals dominated intellectual discourse in the United States until the rise of a Jewish elite beginning in the 1920s which accelerated after World War II and became dominant after 1965.

Ernest Tuveson notes that the moralistic, idealistic strand of American thought tends to come to the fore in times of crisis—“the expansionist period, the Civil War, the First World War.”[17] After the evil has been vanquished, the rhetoric dies down, and disillusionment may occur as people realize that evil has not, after all, been extirpated.[18] However, it lurks in the background and may revive in times of crisis. “Yet, despite post-Civil War disillusionment, the myth of the Redeemer Nation kept a hold on the deepest feelings of the country, and in critical moments asserted itself,”[19] citing several speeches of Woodrow Wilson: “America had the infinite privilege of fulfilling her destiny and saving the world.”[20]
