Right Wing Authoritarianism and Social Dominant Orientation Scales as Liberal/Left Propaganda

Right-Wing Authoritianism (RWA) and Social Dominant Orientation (SDO) are two scales frequently used to measure political attitudes. They aim to redefine authoritarianism and equality respectively by redefining common concepts in such a manner that you would be seen as having a mental disorder if you disagree with the tenets of wealth redistribution and forcing equal outcomes — or indeed, if you simply have Right-leaning views.

The RWA scale was devised by professor Bob Altemeyer of the University of Manitoba as an extension and refinement derived from the California F-scale created by the Frankfurt School’s Theodor Adorno et al. to measure the same construct. Altemeyer spent his entire career attempting to redefine hallmark traits of Liberalism, such as submissiveness to authority and aggression towards those who do not follow the Narrative (a hallmark of antifa), as Right Wing traits exclusively. Altemeyer claims only Right Wingers are capable of authoritarianism, and famous examples of Left Wing authoritarians, such as Lenin, Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, etc., were actually crypto-Right Wingers. He further claims it is the Right Wing that consistently exhibit errors in cognition and in reasoning, and that they are the political side affiliated with hypocrisy and tend to have contradictory ideals. In The Authoritarians, Altemeyer describes his own usage of Right and Left Wing as “new-fangled” (p.9). Altemeyer thus openly admits playing with words and manipulating meanings to fit his own narrative. The entire work appears to be an exercise in academic sophistry. According to the RWA scale, if you believe in the American values of hard work, education, loyalty, and honesty, you’re a Right Wing Authoritarian, and quite obviously, a racist. Read more

Justin Murphy’s “The psychology of prohibiting outside thinkers”

Here is Justin Murphy describing his background, research, and activism:

Why is there not more rebellion against status quo institutions? How have economic and political processes pacified our capacity for radical collective action? As a political scientist, I am interested in the roles played by information, communication, and ideology in the pacification of political resistance and conflict. Before joining the faculty of Politics and IR at the University of Southampton in the UK, I did my PhD at Temple University in the US. There I was active in Occupy Wall Street, some civil disobedience and shutting down of things, some longer-term campaigns against the big U.S. banks, and sundry other works and deeds, including a radical warehouse project where I lived for nearly three years.

So Murphy is an academic on the left. He is therefore part of the establishment, a card-carrying member of the institutional structure that dominates intellectual discourse in the West. But, unlike the vast majority of his academic brethren, he is quite aware that the left is now the status quo and that it is doing everything it can to preserve its elite status — and that its self-preserving tactics are at base nothing more than irrational assertions of power and privilege. Murphy makes these claims in a blogpost: “The psychology of prohibiting outside thinkers.” Part of the subtitle says it all: “The real motivation of respectable progressivism is managing guilty conscience and conserving bourgeois privileges.”

What’s so refreshing about this is that instead of “exclud[ing] independent right-wing intellectual work on moral grounds,” he would actually “enjoy thinking” with intellectuals on the right. Indeed, moral indictments have become the stock in trade of establishment intellectuals — as noted in my three-part “Moralism and Moral Arguments in the War for Western Survival.” Moral condemnations are easy. No intellectual heavy lifting required. All one need do is appeal to conventional moral intuitions as shaped by the the same institutions that are now the status quo — the media and academic culture. As I note, those who dissent from the status quo are “not only misguided, [they are] malevolent … consumed by hatred, anger and fear towards non-Whites, gays, women and the entire victim class pantheon, or so goes the stereotype And that’s the problem. Being cast as evil means you are outside the moral community. There’s no need to talk with you, no need to be fair, or even worry about your safety. You are like an outlaw in Old Norse society  — ‘a person [who] lost all of his or her civil rights and could be killed on sight without any legal repercussions.’” Read more

My “Ask Me Anything” on VOAT

I did an “Ask me anything” at VOAT on May 5th. It’s a bit like speed dating because it’s all done quickly and without a lot of deliberation. This is a somewhat edited version, including some comments on some of my replies and my comments. Sorry I didn’t get around to all the questions. People can continue the discussion here. Lots of good points from the questioners.

[–] brigbother: Hello Dr. MacDonald: How can we foster honest conversations about Jewish behavior without causing people to immediately be turned off?

[–] DrKevinMacDonald: It’s very difficult. People’s eyes tend to glaze over when the subject is broached. And the problem is that it takes a real commitment to get into it. You can’t give a decent argument on this very complicated subject with sound bites. It takes some serious reading. Dealing with Jewish issues is often the last hurdle for many in the Alt Right. In a way, it’s not necessary to talk about Jews to get at the core issue of White identity, but I do think that without talking about Jews you really can’t understand how we got to where we are now.

[–] brigbother: Thank you. I have definitely been subjected to the glazed eyes treatment when I’ve brought it up with people. You are right, it takes serious study to understand the JQ. My problem is that people are eager to change the subject and forget about it. Any tips on inspiring people’s curiosity so that they do seek out serious reading?

[–] smokratez: Tell people that you like what the Jews are doing. How you admire their closed borders. How they build a wall. That they are serious about trying to abolish miscegenation. That they oppose diversity and multiculturalism. I say that all I want for my country is what Jews have in Israel, and I mean it.

[–] DrKevinMacDonald: Good point by smokratez: I would also suggest getting on social media and following people who post intelligently about Jews. I follow a lot of people on Twitter who make good points about Jews.

Reflections on the History of the Jewish Hoax

The Times’ accounts of what took place at each of those places contains the greatest exaggerations, and the account of what took place at some of those places is absolutely untrue.”
British Consul-General Stanley on the Russian ‘pogroms,’ January 1882.

Introduction

The 19th-century humorist Josh Billings once wrote that “there is no greater evidence of superior intelligence than to be surprised at nothing.” Demonstrating its superior intelligence on Jewish matters, few events shocked the Alt Right less than the recent arrest of a Jewish teenager in Israel for hoax bomb threats against Jewish community centers in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. Although we are now some weeks removed from the epicenter of this hoax, the sheer scale of its attending political and media hype are deeply significant and deserve further discussion and contextualization. Of particular interest are the actions and posturing of the Anti-Defamation League, shameless in its immediate assertion that the perpetrator was a White anti-Semite, again demonstrating great tenacity in the exercise of its considerable political and cultural influence. Employing the flimsiest of narratives, underpinned by an equally suspect “history of persecution,” the ADL was able to disseminate the myth of Jewish victimhood in the media, secure top-level consultation with the FBI, and even publicly chide the President of the United States for his “inadequate” response. In particular, Trump’s refusal to automatically assume that the bomb threats were a “hate crime” was met with bitter rebukes from several Jewish organizations.

After the “US-Israeli” culprit was apprehended, the naive might have expected some humility and soul-searching from these groups. Yet, in a development that will again fail to surprise the Alt Right, the ADL was unapologetic and intransigent. With extreme arrogance, the organization issued a statement reading: “While the details of this crime remain unclear, the impact of this individual’s actions is crystal clear: these were acts of anti-Semitism.”

Although Jews themselves seem to have learned little from the episode, it does provide us with some food for thought. From beginning to end, the episode perfectly revealed in microcosm the Jewish relationship to anti-Semitism, the construction of narratives through which Jews understand themselves, and the importance of myth and deception in sustaining Jewish identity. In short, the episode revealed the core of a singular phenomenon — the quintessential ‘Jewish hoax.’ Since no language better grapples with the concept of the compound noun than German, we may even coin a term for this phenomenon — the Judenscherz. Christianity and Sociobiology

Human Sin or Social Sin: Evolutionary Psychology, Plato and the Christian Logic of Sociology
Paul Dachslager
Charleston, SC: CreateSpace, 2016

The title of a book often best indicates the author’s approach to his subject matter. For that matter, the somewhat lengthy subtitle of Paul Dachslager’s book could be replaced by a more explicit inscription of his, such as “On the White Man’s Mimicry of the Other,” or “The Inversion of the Truth,” or “The Power of Changing Paradigms.” The author’s main thesis is that with dominant political ideas always subject to change, the reader’s conceptual tools are also bound to undergo change. What many evolutionary psychologists in their research on race took for granted fifty or sixty years ago must, as a result of the pressure of new political myths, be now either discarded, or short of that, wrapped up in a more hermetic language designed for the eyes and ears of the initiated only. With the pervasive secular religion of political correctness reigning now supreme in US academia and the mainstream media, even the strongest empirical evidence on the disparities of IQs among races, the role of hereditary genius, and genetic influences on criminality must be carefully reworded in a more arcane language.

As Paul Dachslager correctly observes at the outset of his book, in our hyper-moralistic and hyper-altruistic world, scholarly incursions into the role of biological influences in explaining human behavior are met with social opprobrium and are often dubbed with a derogatory label of “scientism.” Once upon a time Whites had to expunge their bodily sins by abiding with the carnality-hating canons of the Church; today Whites have to expunge their social sins by demolishing traditional racial thinking. “As the body was once stigmatized or banned, today the social body [i.e., race, class, and gender] should be banned.” In both cases we can observe the state of self-denial of penitent Whites, reflecting itself on the one hand in the excessive display of false piety towards the Other, and in a subconscious search for the retrieval of their lost racial and ethical grandeur, on the other.
