Natural Selection against Europeans: Why the Silence?

At his blog West Hunter, Greg Cochran writes

Natural selection is not an odd, unusual, poorly understood phenomenon like ball lighting. It is not something that last occurred 50 million years ago, like a kimberlite pipe eruption. And, of course, it applies to human behavioral traits, which are significantly heritable. Unless you think that the optimum mental phenotype (considering costs and payoffs) was the same in tropical hunter-gatherers, arctic hunter-gatherers, neolithic peasants, and medieval moneylenders (which would strongly suggest that you are an idiot), natural selection must have generated significant differences between populations. Differences whose consequences we see every day, and that have been copiously documented by psychometricians.

This notion that ongoing natural selection is not the default – that it only happens on national holidays or whatever – is fairly common among biologists. Obviously untrue, because you can’t even have things stay the same without ongoing selection – otherwise mutations and drift would gradually ruin everything. Only selection lets horseshoe crabs outlast mountain ranges.

Sure, some of this is because the topic of human psychological differences makes biologists upset, or threatens to impose unemployment and/or celibacy – but it also shows up in topics that don’t seem to have much emotional or political charge.

He’s right, of course. Natural selection is ongoing. But a foundational dogma of evolutionary psychology was that natural selection stopped in the Pleistocene somewhere, resulting in the set of adaptations possessed by all humans, the only differences being between genders. This view allowed them to safely ignore group differences in traits because for all practical (and scientific) purposes humans are identical — a view that is tailor made to fit into the left/multicultural academic milieu. Review of ‘Reuben’ by Tito Perdue

Reuben-Cover-Web

Reuben
By Tito Perdue
Washington Summit Publishers, 2014
290 Pages; $24.95

Reuben, Tito Perdue’s eighth published novel, is by far the 75-year-old author’s most subversive, incendiary, and defiantly reactionary work yet. It is bound to offend. It is sure to provoke. It is an apt and needful epic for our times and for our kind.

The story begins in present-day rural north-central Alabama. Reuben-a young, “uplander” bumpkin with a poorly-forged prosthetic metal foot-stumbles upon the humble estate of the excessively eccentric Leland (Lee) Pefley and his kind-hearted entomologist wife, Judy Pefley (a recurring and prominent personage in Perdue’s oeuvre). Lee is bitter and world-weary, curmudgeonly, and a bit transgressive. Situated atop a high ridge, he spends many an hour at “the Edge,” peering through his telescope down at the city of Birmingham, cursing the hideousness of the city itself and the ignorance and vulgarity of its inhabitants.

Lee Pefley, however, is also a brilliant visionary with a boundless love of knowledge and an inordinately profound understanding of the nature of beauty. Read more

Obama’s Emancipation Proclamation: Immigration by Executive Fiat

A day that will live in infamy.

A day of greater importance than Yorktown, Plymouth Rock, Gettysburg, Appomattox and Pearl Harbor all put together.

It gives me little pleasure to pat myself on the back and remind people that years ago I predicted that if Congress did not take down the borders, the Executive Branch would do so by an Emancipation Proclamation.

And that’s what happened today.

I was in the Atlanta Airport waiting to pick up my brother’s guitar from the luggage carousel when Obama came on television. Liberal journalists had been ooohing and aaahing for several minutes.

Obama was angry! He pursed his lips, lowered his eyes. His voice shook with rage and indignation as he related how his efforts had been thwarted despite the fact that the whole country — including the Republicans — knew he was right, that the illegals had to be given citizenship, that his proposal would “protect the borders,” would improve our economy….

Well…the list of the boons for us all just kept spilling off his angry pursed lips. Read more

Varg Vikernes — Persecution of a Nordic Patriot

Musician Kristian ‘Varg’ (Wolf) Vikernes, who recently went on trial in France for ‘inciting racial hatred and glorifying war crimes,’ isn’t a household name. Even within the extreme heavy metal scene he helped create back in the early 90s his name is slowly diminishing if not into oblivion, then into ignominy. He is, however, an interesting character and the story of his persecution, first in his native Norway and now in France, is worth chronicling for TOO readers.

Born in 1973, Vikernes was the son of an electronics engineer and an oil company employee. When he was about 6 years old, the family moved for about a year to Baghdad, Iraq, because Vikernes’ father was then working for the Iraqi regime developing a computer program. Since there were no places available in the English school in Baghdad, the young Vikernes went to an Iraqi elementary school during this time. Vikernes claims it was then that he became aware of racial matters. Corporal punishment was not uncommon in the school, and on one occasion Vikernes had a quarrel with a teacher and called him “a monkey.” But, as Vikernes perceived it, the teachers “didn’t dare to hit me because I was white.” Vikernes’ mother also recalls how they spent a year in Iraq, and that “the other children in his class would get slapped by their teachers; he would not.” In general, both of his parents appear to have been racially conscious. His father would frequently express anxieties about the increasingly multi-ethnic makeup of their hometown. About his mother, Vikernes says that she was “very race conscious,” in the sense that she was afraid that Vikernes “was going to come home with a black girl.”

The teenaged Vikernes founded the one man music project Burzum in 1991, quickly establishing himself as a precocious and formidable musical talent. In doing so he became part of an emerging Norwegian black metal scene. Although now dominated by often ridiculous pageantry, kitsch and costuming, the early black metal scene was a reaction against the bloated commercialism of American metal music. Superficially, the music was thematically pre-occupied with anti-Christian lyrics, but beneath this tactical move for shock-value were deeper ideas and inspirations: disillusionment with the direction of modern society, hypocrisy in religion, the loss of European identities, the dark and foreboding Nordic landscape, and even the harsh northern weather itself. Greg Johnson’s ”New Right vs. Old Right”

Review of New Right versus Old Right by Greg Johnson

At the micro level it is still possible to call America a democratic country — with various local officials being elected by a citizenry fortified by the right to bear arms and express their opinions.  But at the macro level — that of cities, states, and the nation itself — the level at which people need to be represented in order to implement real change (or stop it happening), it is quite a different story. Here, America is a masterpiece of anti-democracy — a society controlled by oligarchic elites that agree on most things and which use their power (the media, the judiciary, and the political parties they pay for) to check any independent impulse that arises from the People.

The cunning beauty of this system is that the sheep who are controlled still think that the shepherd and the sheepdogs controlling them are just other sheep. The false political consciousness that this reveals is also bolstered by relative prosperity and material comfort, especially for the more potent and intelligent members of society.

The consequence of this is that America is a de facto political desert in a way that other countries of the West are not. Unlike France, Finland, or Hungary, or a number of other European countries, where there is a considerable variety of political options available for voters, in America there are no meaningful choices outside the false duopoly which is merely a disguised monopoly.

But the desert has always attracted its ascetics, its mad-eyed lunatics or true holy men, who revere the truth or their delusions more than their personal comforts. From the desert, as history has proved, a force can sometimes emerge to shake the world. Read more

Nationalists, Jews and the Ukrainian Crisis: Some Historical Perspective

Recent days have seen several comments touching on the allegedly fascist or anti-Semitic leanings of Ukrainian nationalists involved in the revolution. Most recently, Vladimir Putin has stated that the revolutionaries are a band of “fascists” and “reactionary anti-Semitic forces” that have gone “on a rampage.” Commentators remain divided on whether Putin truly believes Ukraine to be on the cusp of a fascist takeover, or whether this is simply an excuse for Russian military intervention in Crimea. Nonetheless, despite the ambiguous nature of the nationalist coalition, Abraham Foxman, still lingering at ADL headquarters and still apoplectic at any sign of nationalism among Whites, recently took to the pages of the Huffington Post to assert that “the Ukrainian Jewish community is nervous,” and urged the new government to “reassure” Ukrainian Jews.

Foxman and many news outlets have singled out the Svoboda party, and other groups and individuals within the loose alliance of nationalists, as being particularly concerning. Since many of these individuals and groups (as well as their attitudes towards Jews, multiculturalism, and the West) are likely to be unfamiliar to Western readers, what I hope to achieve in this article is to provide an historical overview and some analysis of the trends in Ukrainian nationalism. It is hoped that this might aid the development of a clearer understanding of events in Ukraine from a Western White Nationalist perspective.

Ukrainian nationalism has always had to struggle for free expression. Ukrainian lands have been the subject of incursions from Poles, Turks, Cossacks and Russians since at least the seventeenth-century, and in the eighteen-century these lands were divided between the Russian Empire and Austria. Even today, scholars Andres Umland and Anton Shekhovtsov have noted that “present day Western Ukraine belongs to the Central rather than to the East European context, and in some ways resembles the Baltic countries more closely than it does other former Soviet republics.”[1] Read more

Norman Lowell for MEP 2014

Readers of The Occidental Observer may be interested to learn that Norman Lowell’s “far-right” Imperium Europa group is running candidates for this year’s European Parliament elections; among these candidates representing Malta is Mr. Lowell himself.

Norman Lowell is a long-time fighter for Europe, the European peoples, and our culture and civilization.  Although (and this should go without saying, but I’ll say it anyway) we may not agree with every single part of Mr. Lowell’s program, his overarching vision is excellent, and it is very similar to that of Francis Parker Yockey in his magisterial work, Imperium.

Norman Lowell and Imperium Europa, the group that he founded and leads, are resolutely pan-European.  Indeed, there are very few genuinely pan-European groups and leaders among the so-called racialist and nationalist “far-right” – although there are groups and leaders who make a fig-leaf pretense of pan-Europeanism in order to garner support.  Norman Lowell is the real deal in this regard, and his Imperium Europa program offers a bright future for all Europeans, of all ancestries, worldwide.
